My Top Ten MLP Moments Thus Far · 9:29pm Jun 2nd, 2015
So, MirandaLaufeyson had this nifty blog where she counted down her top ten favorite MLP scenes thus far. It was super fun to read and I want to do one of my own.
Top ten scenes (that I can remember) from MLP starting from number ten then going to my most favorite. I haven't watched some of these episodes in ages, so bear with me. Teensy bit of spoilers for season 5, but nothing major I think.
10. Learning how the Mane 6 Got their cutie marks — Season 1 Episode 23
This is an oldie but a goodie. Learning the Mane 6's cutie mark stories turned out to be one of my favorite moments from season one. There's something in these scenes that brought me closer to them as characters. It's always nice to have a bit of backstory to work with.
9. Twilight losing her marbles — Season 2 Episode 3
I know this one's used to death, but it's soooo funny! It never ceases to make me laugh.
8. Pinkie's sad song — Season 4 Episode 12
I may or may not have issues with characters being in emotional turmoil . . . Anywho, yes, I really enjoyed this bit with Pinkie because it gave so much depth to her character. It really proved that she's not crazy or random or weird, she's just Pinkie. It gave me new respect for her character to say the least. Before this episode, I wasn't big on Pinkie. After it, I couldn't get enough of her. This scene was also inspiration for a large portion of What Changes May Come, so if you enjoyed that one, you have this scene to thank.
7. The glorious Who's on First reference! — Season 5 Episode 5
You youngsters may have not caught the joke, but I've hung around my Grandpa to know just what it's referring to. I laughed myself sick when I saw this. Yes, yes, YES! Sooo hilarious. Just when I thought I'd never get a reference this awesome in mlp, they went and surprised me.
If you're lost, well, here's the original skit I'm referring to. It's crazy famous, perhaps one of the most popular comedy skits of all time. The reference starts at around 1:15
6. Powerless Discord — Season 4 Episode 26
Yeah, I have issues. This scene. 
I can't get enough of it. I love to see powerful characters brought down to everyone else's level or worse. This is by far one of my favorite techniques in writing, and why I use it in my novels. There's just something about seeing how a character who's normally incredibly powerful having to adapt to having little to no power. It's really a test for the character and of the author's characterization. This is where we separate the wheat from the chaff, guys and gals.
5. Spike feeling useless — Season 4 Episode 6
Here's one scene some of you might have forgotten about but remains really powerful to me. Spike wants to help so badly here, and yet, nopony even takes notice of his desire to help and the fact that he feels left out. This hits home for me, really, really close. I have struggled with this exact same feeling my entire life and still do today. I want to contribute to a group and make friends and do all the things friends do. But, I always end up feeling left out. The group often gives me some stupid job waaay far away from them, they're rarely interested in what I have to say, and they sometimes just ignore the fact that I'm even there. They don't bother explaining things to me, thus I feel like I can never reach their level of skill. So, yeah, I relate to Spike here. Wanting to be a valued member of the team while constantly feeling like you don't fit in. It's tough, and I still don't think I have a solution for it. 
4. Twilight and Spike's relationship — Season 1 Episode 24 (and pretty much every episode with this sort of interaction in it)
I love Spike and Twilight's relationship. Every time I get scenes where their all sister/brother or mother/son I have to squeee with delight. Watching these two interact is just priceless. The way they get into misunderstandings, fight, and make up just feels so realistic to me. Scenes like this are a reminder to me that any fic with Twilight needs to have something to do with Spike too. They're kind of a package deal.
3. Spike's interaction with Owlowiscious— Season 1 episode 24
Soooo cute! I loved Spike's one-sided rants to Owlowiscious. Their interactions never cease to make me smile and laugh, especially when Spike project's his internal concerns onto the owl by making him out to be some kind of criminal mastermind. Maybe I enjoy it so much because I could totally see myself doing the exact same thing . . .
2. Discord toying with the Mane 6 — Return of Harmony
Awesome! The best villain and best character appears at last. Muhahaha. Gosh, every time I see DIscord I smile now. The way he shatters the Mane 6's friendship in a matter of minutes is simply brilliant! He's not only the coolest villain, but the smartest. Every move he makes up until the point he lets them hit him with the harmony ray is genius. Tisk, tisk, Discord, you let your pride get in the way of your intellect. Is it bad that I wanted him to win the whole time? XD
1. Discord loses it at the Gala — Season 5 episode 7
Yes, I'm horrible, I know. But, I love to see Discord just snap. I thought the show was too dang obsessed with "reformed" Discord do write a scene like this, but they surprised me. It shows that he's still dealing with his old habits, and man do I adore internal struggles like that. To almost fling another pony into an alternate dimension because he's jealous . . . wow, that's just awesome! I can't get enough of characters relapsing and having to overcome the same temptation again because that's realistic. People don't change in a day, it takes time. You're going to stumble, you're going to fall short of expectations, but you learn from it, pick yourself up and try again. It's how positive growth works and it's how I present my characters because darn it, that's realistic!

Discord is da bestest! Though I must admit I liked Chryssie too, oh and Nightmare, Flim plus Flam, maybe Sombra (bit lacking there). In fact I just think villains in general are awesome. Except Diamond and Silver.

Twilight and Spike's relationship is pretty sweet...
Except when it's not.
Seems like most people see it one way or the other, though. Either he's treated awfully, or he's got a wonderful relationship with her.
Or they're a hater who would rather see him not included.
The... fact that the relationship waffles sometimes is both a strength and a weakness, and can be frustrating around the fandom.
I think the cutest scene with them is at the beginning of Power Ponies, though... and the two best Episodes starring Spike are the last two in S5.
Wow I had no idea you didn't like pinkie at first and that who is on first is funny. i think the best moment for me was when cheese sang about how pinkie inspired him at first i was angry at him and hated him for making pinkie cry but then came that blasted song! i couldn't hate him after that.
