DLE Suggested Tropes · 4:11pm Mar 31st, 2015

Hey Everyone,

Vandenbz (one of my awesome proof/pre readers) suggested some tropes, but I wanted you all to look them over and tell me what you think. I've never edited a TV tropes page before, but the last person I talked to about it said to be careful as TV Tropes tries to maintain objectivity. I might have a bit of a bias on the trope page about my own story.

Here is what he suggested:

Alternate Character Interpretation - the ponies immediately assume that Dee Dee is a psychopath upon hearing of the various things she has done to Dexter

Poor Communication Kills - Dexter admits that the main reason why he hasn't been questioned about his involvement in the various events yet is thanks to Luna, Twilight, and Applejack not working together and sharing certain information

Too Dumb To Live - Spike saw the ion cannon in action, yet the first thing he does after picking it up is pull the trigger. Fortunately it wasn't aimed at anyone so there were no casualties

Not Now Kiddo - Spike is reduced to yelling at the top of his voice to keep the ponies from shushing him and keeping him from telling them what he saw during the fight in the bakery

Verbal Backspace - Spike quickly changes his words when he accidentally insulted Rarity's weight

Also under "Not now" is the fact that Dexter was taken for a compulsive liar because it's OBVIOUS that a child has NO IDEA of what he's talking about.

I suggest "Creepy child" and/or 'Troubling Un-Childlike behavior' as Invoked Tropes for the interrogation hologram, who channels a different 'Dexter' (insert link to the series about the serial killer of the same name) in the most unsettling way possible, even claiming that he has no soul, which creeps out even the original Dexter.

And I would like to point out that Applejack has got to be one of the EASIEST ponies to deceive, as she can't catch a lie for peanuts: A few episodes would have been resolved much quicker if she could. My opinion, however, is that she can tell who is untrustworthy, as the Flim Flam brothers are, or who is just plain looking for trouble.

Chrysalis pulled the wool over her eyes, regardless of whenever or not one believes she used magic to do so, in such a way she believed the faker over one of her best friends ever and the Element of Magic herself.

Interspecies Romance between the changeling and a pony was hinted at during the interrogation/torture scene; could also be Foreshadowing if that detail's gonna be important later.

2927764 I'm convinced that most of the reason that Diamond Tiara is a problem is that Applejack is too stupid to listen to what her sister has to say about her. This is why the fixfic that had Celestia ask pointed questions about why defending oneself from asshattery was a bad thing made so many people so very happy.

Ah, yes... that was cathartic.

Still, MMMMystery and Canterlot Wedding show that AJ is nowhere even NEAR being able to detect falsehood when it's right under her nose, much less having any sort of power of Honesty.

2928585 And look how easy it was for Discord to trick her. If they were all as blind and ignorant as she is, they'd have died long ago.

And why wasn;t I told about this? I wrote the TV Tropes page!

That's interesting!

Arbitrary Skepticism: Science Genius Kid whose gizmos defy any logical convention regarding physics denies Equestrian magic (and Pinkie Pie).
Later, he still refuses to accept Celestia or Luna can move the Sun or the Moon, despite the fact he once moved Earth´s Moon with one of his own inventions.
