The End of NaPoWriMo · 6:58pm Mar 12th, 2015
Hello my dear followers!
This blog entry should have gone up a lot earlier, but better late than never, right? Here we go:
The NaPoWriMo has ended and I couldn't be happier about my decision to participate in it! I became a lot better in writing and feel that my writing was notched up a few levels thanks to the fics I wrote in this month!
It was hard to keep up with my goal, to write 30 fanfictions á 2,000 words and 60,000 words in total, and I didn't reach my goal completely, but everything paid off in the end.
I was only able to write 28 fanfictions over the course of the month, but I wrote more than 100,000 words in total, exceeding my planned total word count by far!
I also created my first pony OCs ever; Shapy Cloud, Golden Grape, Snowy Breeze and Nasty Hooves, which is something I'm especially proud of. You can find them in these stories:
Other highlights include that I wrote my longest stories ever; "Spike's Hearts and Hooves Day Surprise" with 11,839 words and "In a Distant Land" with 12,664 words, which surprised me a lot, because initially, I never had planned for these stories to become that long and I have not reckoned with it that I would be able to write such long stories; and my first fanfiction that I based on a fanart with "Chasing Away The Nightmares".
And a lot more highlights, too many to list them here! I achieved a lot in this month and I made many exciting experiences in regards to fanfic writing for the first time!
I also discovered how much I love it to write horror stories; I wrote four horror stories for the NaPoWriMo, plus one Slice of Life story with horror elements, so I will surely write more of them!
Which brings me to the next reason for writing this blog entry, aside from reflecting on the NaPoWriMo:
The Future!
I have written a lot of good stuff during the NaPoWriMo and I definitely want to revisit some of it and make bigger and more epic stories out of it!
First, I have planned a lot for Shapy Cloud. Initially, I had "Haunting for Two" only planned as a one-shot, but when I created Shapy Cloud and explained her backstory, I grew to love her a lot and I definitely want to delve more into her character and her past and future and tell more about her life. I have lots of ideas in my head for Shapy Cloud, so you can expect to see much more from her!
Second, I really love the interactions between Spike, Golden Grape and Snowy Breeze in "Spike's Hearts and Hooves Day Surprise". They resonate well with each other and the dynamic between them came out great. I think they go very well together as characters and I want to visit them again. I haven't figured out how yet, but Spike will definitely meet them again!
And last but not least, I began with a little fic collection about a usual day in Derpy's life with "Derpy's Day: The Morning". Nothing groundbreaking or particularly exciting, just a simple, little Slice of Life story, but I like it and I will continue this collection until Derpy's day is over. It has no priority right now and Shapy Cloud, Golden Grape and Snowy Breeze will come first, but you can expect to see more of this collection at some point in the future!
And that's it! These are my plans for the near and far future. There are some other stories I have planned, but I want to keep the focus of this blog entry on the NaPoWriMo, so I don't talk about them here.
So, expect some surprises too!
I thank you all for your support and the many views you gave my NaPoWriMo compilation and I hope that you will stick loyally to me and continue to read my stories, even though some months have already passed again since the NaPoWriMo.
I promise to put out more stories soon!
See you until then and have a good day!
