My first novel is now released

Some of you might remember that I've been working on a novel for a while. After years of hard work, this novel, Opt Out, is now released. You can get it over at https://roryprice.net/store/ and pay what you want for it. You can even download it for free and later decide how much you think it's worth.

I'm back, and I have a new fic coming

    Hey guys.

I haven't been on Fimfiction in a while, and I'm sure a lot of you don't remember subscribing to me and will wonder who the hell I am as this blog post shows up. I've been away from the fandom for about two years, but I had another fanfic idea, and I figured I'd give it a shot.

A little update about my book

This is just a little update about what's going on with me. I already told you guys that I was working on a novel, and it's going very well. In fact, a publisher just showed interest in the project. Obviously, it's too early for me to give any details, but things are looking bright.

Thinking Back on A Dream of Sunny Days

I promised a retrospective for A Dream of Sunny Days, so here goes. It goes without saying that this will contain a ton of spoilers, so I suggest not reading this unless you read the whole story.

    All that's left is editing.

It took forever, but I got all the feedback I wanted for Sunny Days, and I rewrote everything the way I like it. Now, all that's left is to edit the remaining chapters, of which there are four left. (Plus a short epilogue) It might not look like much, but it's a pretty big milestone for me. I will try to release the chapters as fast as I can, but both the friend who helps me edit and I work full

Yet another "I'm not dead" post · 8:10pm Mar 11th, 2015

Hey guys, just a little heads up that yes, the next chapter is coming. The proofreader feedback I got so far is fairly positive, but I'm waiting on more comments so I can release something I consider presentable. As much as I would like to release chapters within 3 weeks of each other, the average lenght makes it hard.

I've also hit a bit of a downer when it comes to writing. Nothing to worry about, I just need to get the creative juices flowing again. I've had a few job interviews lately, so my focus hasn't been as much on ponies and fanfiction than it's been on real life concerns. I've also been thinking about what we know of season 5 so far, and wondering if it'll be doable to edit the fic so it could still fit as a possible future for Equestria.

As usual for those posts, here's an idea of how every chapter's doing.

Prologue and chapter 1: done
Chapters 2 and 3: I still plan on reworking them soonish. Haven't quite gotten to it yet.
Chapter 4: done
Chapter 5: Still waiting for some feedback, I'll give it maybe one or two more rounds of edits before it's published. I don't think any major rewrites will be necessary at this point.
Chapter 6: I've started slowly reworking it. I am having some doubts about it, could be I've just been staring at this story too long.
Chapter 7: I haven't looked at it in a while, so no changes there.
Chapter 8: I'm maybe 3/4 into writing the first draft. It's been going pretty well so far, but I am taking breaks from it, as it'll be a pretty charged chapter.

Total fic completion: 17.71%

Hopefully I'll get to a point where I don't have to make these "I'm still alive" posts between chapters eventually, haha.

Be wary when going down the rabbit hole of rewriting that you don't lose sight of your end goal. I've seen many authors do rewrite after rewrite before simply vanishing.

Thanks for the tip, but I'm not too worried. I only go through complete rewrites when I have really good reasons to do so. I do, however, like to leave chapters on a shelf for a while before looking back at them with a fresh eye, fix sentences, that kind of stuff. I also rely heavily on proofreaders. When I talk about reworking, I mostly mean going through proofreader feedback. Only one chapter required heavy rewrites so far. (Two if you count the prologue)

As far as the end goal, I have a fairly detailed plan that lists every chapter with major events, where and when characters get introduced or killed off, as well as a timeline of the events. I even told it all to one of my proofreaders, so he can keep me on track if I ever diverge from it too much. :raritywink:
