Ugh. It's been a terrible month for the writing. I apologize. I'm still alive. My stories are still alive!
I want to write so much shit and I just... blech. I think a lack of games kills my ability to write. I get depressed, it gets hard to write, I stay up late because I'm annoyed, etc etc. It's a vicious cycle that will only be solved when I finish paying off a laptop that can run goddamn minecraft at the least.
That's right. I can't even play minecraft!
So, hours upon hours of being frustrated with Monsta hunta 4, binge-watching game of thrones, and generally dying of the Australian heat have not been conducive towards writing.

shame you don't live in the UK lol I have a spare PC sitting here with an old AMD Athlon x2 4600+ and (formally a 6800GTX before that bit the dust, literally) GT610 which can play games such as Minecraft & League at least vaguely competently.

You should go down to some PC place and see if they have any old parts they are throwing out as junk, a crappy old core 2 duo and anything from a GT210+ would be able to play at least... "something".
Hell if you're lucky you could find something along the lines of a 8600GT, I've seen one in the local pc shop being scrapped before. Fish over a few ££ and either let them wipe the HDD or promise to do so yourself and they normally just hand it over saving them the time of actually getting rid of it. Probably thrown away because it doesn't work but there are so many old pcs around here that if I really needed it it would be quite easy to get enough to splice them together into one functioning machine. It's good now because PCs have reached the point where instead of shitty old P4s Core 2 duos are being thrown away.

Things like this where they have no idea what it even is are up there and have space for small gpus. That one is a core 2 duo and that price wouldn't go up much by the end, no idea what the situation of cheap pcs is like in Aus though.
We need to get you a rig built mate. I'd offer to do it but all I have is some spare RAM and a Motherboard [least I think I do. Would have to check.] Hell, if you picked up a case an decent processor you could throw a computer together. Then in time maybe put a GPU in it.
Also, shipping it to you assembled would be killer financially.

No don't recommend a core 2 duo, My poor old core 2 duo shits itself trying to run Minecraft mod packs so i know this pain.

Funny, normally playing games is the reason I don't update.
I don't know If this is worth pointing out at this stage, but the way Minecraft was programmed makes it hard on most computers due to it not being fully optimized, having all the kinks worked out for those who aren't computer savvy. There are some videos where the person talks about having a high end computer and when they put Minecraft on high settings it just bogs down to 15 or so frames. Don't know what your money situation is but most computer companies have a website of there own where they are able to sell computers for less due to it being direct from factory. So if you have a brand you like, try seeing if you can buy anything from there website. If that fails, you could always try Newegg or Tigerdirect. If you can find products made by a company called Ibuypower I have seen a good "bang for your buck" as it were. Hope you learned something and it wasn't just me wasting your time!

If you're getting 15 though it's for sure not a high end pc, the 6800GTX achieved 40 ish and normal render distance all the time and that is from 2006 lol. Admittedly it was one of the best for the time but even so.

2857281 Yeah, I get that too. I have a fairly high end laptop and it'll play minecraft (with or without a mod pack) smoothly on the condition it isn't doing anything else what so ever. It's a simple game but that's also evidently part of the problem. Maybe Microsoft buying it is for the best if they smooth out the kinks.

2858030 'just about'. I get three frames a second if I'm lucky and dial everything down to the very base. And last time I tried to boot it up, it hung at the start and never recovered until I killed it.
