Memoirs Redux · 12:46am Feb 11th, 2015
I've been writing an awful lot of blog posts lately! Why not one more?
Recently I've finished a self contained story. I've also been working through a lot of future chapters of Memoirs of a Royal Guard. As I did so two things became obvious to me.
1. I was really rusty when I started Memoirs and my style has greatly improved.
2. I know things now that I didn't know when I started Memoirs.
That set me to thinking: should I rework the beginning? I mulled that over the whole time I was working on my latest story. As I've finished it that freed up time to look back at my first ten chapters. There is room for improvement. I can add in elements of the plot that I didn't have fleshed out then.
I could ponify better, write better, and improve the presentation the story makes to a new reader. In short, I decided to do it.
Tonight I'll be putting out the first updates. Chapter 1 received a light touch with some added content. Chapter 2 received a heavy touch. One goal is to get each chapter over the 2,000 word mark so insanely short ones like chapter 3 are going to be getting a lot more substance.
I would very much like to know what you all think as my readers! If you have time please check them out and toss some comments my way.
Sounds like a plan. :3
Touch it up if you want, but I'd suggest against making significant changes. Save it for your next story.
You know things now, many valuable things / that you hadn't known before...
I'd suggest retouching it if you like, but not making any significant plot changes. If you do, at least sum them up in a blog post or an author's note so we know what's been changed.
Sounds good :D I liked the way the first chapters were, I shall have to re-read then when they are updated :D
Why not try to write it anew but please - do it as an another story. The begining is only a little 2 rushed.
