F*ck Chris Kyle · 5:45pm Jan 31st, 2015
Seriously. Fuck him. He's no hero. He was a sadistic, remorseless killer that took pleasure in murdering both innocents and non-innocents. That's not someone I would call a hero.
I'm sick of people worshiping him and insulting anyone that disagrees with the "fact" that he's a "hero." For the last time, fuck Chris Kyle.
Why do people worship him? He was only good at killing people. Whether or not he was an actual nice guy, it does not pertain to him being a hero. He killed people.
I imagine the Americans worship him a bit too much?
2759893 Enough to the point where his "fans" were advocating the rape and death of anyone who didn't think he was a hero.
He flat out said in his book that he loved to kill, that he thought it was fun, and that in his mind all Iraqis were savages that deserved to die. That's not heroism. That's the sign of a psycho.
Chris Kyle was a remorseless, hate-filled killer. I refuse to call him a hero.
but muh bradley cooper
muh guns
muh freedoms
I adamantly believe George S. Patton was a hero. Thousands if not millions of others agree. I wish I could punch the living daylights out of anyone who would disagree. Patton loved war and combat. Lived, breathed, and ate war and combat. When World War II ended he pushed hard to get the Allies to rearm the Germans, turn right around and attack the Soviets. What does that make him?
I'll admit, I don't know much about this Chris Kyle. I don't know the circumstances of this topic. I don't know every detail (nor, I assume, do you), every thought, or every motive. I will, however, be willing to step back, give him the benefit of the doubt, and believe him to have the fairly off-kilter mind that many snipers have been shown to possess.
Also could you put the quotes to where exactly he said the things you say he said? Because honestly that sounds like something that not only was taken so out of context the context was in another castle, but also passed through the grapevine for so long the original words got mixed up, chopped off, or plain altered.
2759893 So killing people disqualifies one from being (being labeled a) hero? I don't think that's how this works.

Eh.
I do not know enough about him to even have an opinion here, other than I don't think people should worship him over it.
Wait a second, who the hell is this guy?
I didn't read American Sniper, the book on which the movie is based, but I read part of his other book about guns. I didn' t like the tone. He struck me as being not very humble.
Watching the movie, I thought he was portrayed as very dedicated to his stated cause of saving American lives, however I still never saw anything that made me like him. Bradley Cooper made him seem cocky and that his view on the world was very rigid and black and white.
If he said that all Iraqis are savages, I disagree, but I see why he might have said that. I've never been in combat, but some of the things I've read and seen make me think that a large part of the Middle East is backwards. War could very well make a person cynical.
A hero is someone that a group of people look up to for their accomplishments. Chris Kyle is a hero to some people. Hitler is a hero to some people.
