Early New Year's resolutions, and Old Year's conclusions

Well, another year's come and gone. How did the resolutions go? Half and half in my case. Managed to partially accomplish what I set out to do, moving from wondering how to do things to figuring out what to do. I believe I've successfully identified the habits that are hampering or even harmful to me, so that's progress.

    Resolutions for the new year?

Summer update 2: What's Sticking to the Wall?

    Quick update on future plans.

Still working on the original stuff, I think I'm down to the last rewrite of what I wanted to do, only question is what to change in terms of details. Art's had some progress, but work responsibilities and sweet, sweet sleeping problems have caused disruptions.

    Summer update: what next?

Honestly? Not sure. I never publish anything that's not complete, so I'm not breaking any promises there. Thing is, I haven't started on anything new yet, and hadn't lined anything up before the previous one.

Update: so where's the sequels? (contains title spoilers to Flight Camp and Quorum Sensing sequels) · 7:35pm Jan 28th, 2015

Just thought I'd throw this out there in case anyone missed my January update or any of the previous blogs on the topic.

The sequel to Flight Camp is being worked on currently. It is titled 'Ponyville's First Warrior Meet' and is set to be an affectionate parody of Naruto, more specifically the Chuunin exam, only condensed to a single day. The climax is a parody of one of the fights in that series, feel free to guess which or give preferences in the comments below. The story will also contain a special treat for those few readers who've read even my less popular stories... which is fitting, since Flight Camp is one of those.

To properly emulate Naruto style, I've been trying to get scenes lined up properly, so there's no timeskips in between chapters. Naruto episodes/chapters tend to end on a cliffhanger, in the middle of the action, and then continue with that action right away. It's quite different from what I'm used to doing, so it's a bit awkward. Writing action is also trickier than anticipated

There will be more background on Whimper's condition, some flashbacks (can't have a Naruto parody without those), a ninja master (early followers will who this is), the CMC learning ninja fighting, a villain named Wimpy (oh yeah, we're doing that part of Naruto) and, of course, the real star of the story, known only as The Kid in the Alicorn Armour.

Right now I'm at the CMC learning ninja fighting, which is the hardest part to write because I didn't prepare it. I do not know when it will be done, I only know for certain that there are a lot of exclamation marks in the chapter titles. Anything else, I might edit out.

What about the other Quorum Sensing sequels I promised? Blue Moon Bloom just got a minor editing pass on its final chapter, and Keep on Truckin' got a few more chapters edited. But I think I am going to have to make a hard decision here and change the title, because I just can't make Truck a main character with this setup. It's already way too big, and if/when I add more scenes it'll be laden.

Besides which, that title doesn't carry the load of what the story's about.

So, I'm thinking I'll change the title to It's Tradition. Or something along those lines.

And on a final note... when I do publish these stories, there's a good chance I won't be reading comments on them. Just a heads-up: I plan on leaving at an as-yet undetermined time, but not permanently. I'll give more details as I work them out myself, but suffice to say I won't be watching Season 5 as it comes out. And no, that's not a prejudice on the show. The show's quality is the least of my concerns.

Oh, and speaking of concerns, thesis defense on Friday. Either I graduate, or I've wasted four-odd years. No pressure.
