Not as ominous as it sounds, I promise.
This is only the notice that the next chapter of For Sonnets and Harmony, coming on Monday, will be the chapter that officially kicks off the final arc of the story. Confused what I meant by arcs? Well let me break it down for you.
Despite what the story may lead you to believe, I wrote the story to be less of Octavia adjusting to being alicorn, though it has parts of it, and is mostly about the mare breaking out of her shell, connecting with other ponies and starting to gain a small part of happiness that is built over time, free from schedules. Still confused? Let me clue you in a bit more.
The first few chapters, up to and a little past Ditzy Do, were about our favorite gray alicorn learning how to control her magic, her wings, and adjust to both in her life. The second part, focusing a lot more on music, was meant to build on Octavia's need to connect with others, one step at a time, small steps. Now with the last chapter, and this one coming out on Monday, we will see Octavia's difference from earlier chapters, I hope, and how she will start to take the final step to really accepting who she is.
As promised, this next chapter comes with a dozy of a question. I am prepared for close ties, splits in opinions, and any adjustments necessary. I have set out all the paths I need from what is decided and justifications for them. I have also read and taken in all comments regarding the story, including the limitation of having it being reader driven. As all fan fiction is for me, this is just a test for my writing skills and learning about what a majority of the populace does and doesn't like. And, I believe I've adjusted as I've had to for the chapters as they've gone on, minus Fiddle's accent, but I that's really a matter of opinion for how it should be written.
Safe to say though, the next chapter clocks in at 10,000 words, and I hope the song, the chaotic wisdom, and the final question get all of you really excited for what is left to come. Following this Monday there will be 3-4 chapters left. And just look how far Octavia has come.
