I Made My Decision · 8:12pm Jan 15th, 2015
Well, for those of you that read my last blog post, I've made my decision. I've decided I'm not going to post any more chapters of Crimson until the story is finished, and likely until it is fully edited as well. Honestly, I probably should have done that from the start instead of leaving you all with those nasty publishing gaps (which I'm about to do again— sorry).
I also had a recollection of something while I was skipping between parts of the story— one of my earliest comments:
The feelings with young in medical will be a read.
I realized that this reader was saying it would be interesting to hear the thoughts and feelings of the youth that deal with medical issues. I think I did that fairly well in the beginning, but I feel that as I progressed into the story, it may have become more of a narrative and focused less on Crimson's feelings, so I'm going to go back and re-read the story, possibly making some adjustments to add in how he really felt about what was going on, and not just relaying the events if I think additions are necessary. Because of this, I think that when I'm done with everything and start publishing chapters again, I'm going to make all those potential changes to the previous chapters first, then publish the next chapter. If I make enough changes, it might be wise to go back and read from the beginning (if you're willing) to get a full grasp of the story's intentions. I'll probably publish a chapter a day— no week-long waits.
I'm not completely sure how long all this is going to take me, but lately I have been back in the writing process, making progress little by little, so hopefully it won't be too long. I still have editing to do, so I've got that to work on as well, but my writing and editing times don't usually overlap, so hopefully things will work out alright on that end.
From now on, I think I'm going to take my editor, Shahrazad's lead and not start publishing stories until they're completely finished and edited. The story I intend to publish next, my collab with Anonymoose, isn't going to be published until completion anyway, so I think I'm going to stick to that pattern for any other stories I may write. It just means you'll see a lot more of my editing work appearing on my page than new stories that I've written.
Here's hoping I hit a writing swing!
