What happens when a life-changing event occurs that shapes your whole life? What if that event occurs when life has barely begun? If a kid has dealt with more issues in six years than most can handle in a lifetime, how do you think they'd feel?

A comment on my previous blog reminded me that I didn't update here yet, but it still won't be horribly long.

    I Live!

But I’m on a buttload of drugs and am going to pass out.

Surgery went great, even better than expected. I’ll elaborate more later.

    Until next time!

Just Because, Honestly, But Also An Update · 1:19pm Jan 13th, 2015

For the purposes of getting my previous blog post off the front of my page (since I got the help I needed), I'm giving you all another update.

Basically, I'm doing pretty well. I'm having some seasonal allergy stuff like I'm sure plenty of others are, but it's nothing to worry about— I'm just keeping the tissues nearby. A nurse came to evaluate my status, and said I looked pretty good. I don't need an aid or anything like that, but I do have one appointment with a physical therapist for her to determine how I'm doing and if I'll actually need a lot of/any physical therapy. I'm already walking up and down stairs just fine, and that's usually the last step (no pun originally intended, but oh well) in rehab if I remember correctly. I'm just avoiding other sick people, since apparently the flu is running rampant. :twilightoops:

I don't remember if I mentioned this last time, but quite a fair amount has gone on with Crimson. Basically, like some other authors I know of tend to do, I started writing things way out of order, so by the time I get back to where I should be and finish in the proper place, the rest of the story might be finished. I know a while ago I said I would just post chapters as they were finished, but because of this latest pattern, I may take that statement back. I may post some chapters together (within a day or two of each other) that I feel should be posted closely together so as not to leave ugly cliffhangers (it also depends on the availability of my editor, who is looking for my help with his latest completed story now, we just need to find overlap time).

The upside to this change is that if I finally break this stupid writer's block and get into a swing, if I manage to get through to this one particular 'end point,' then I should be able to post the rest of the story on a schedule, because most of the rest of it is basically finished (with some possible changes to be made based on what is yet to be written).

Let me clarify (I originally wasn't going to tell you that I was doing this, but I think if you know about it ahead of time, it will be less confusing when it occurs): what you've been reading now is Act 1. There is then going to be an Entr'acte (likely in a few parts), then an Act 2. For the sake of spoilers, I'm not going to say where they end or the reasons for the splits. However, the end of Act 1 could easily be misinterpreted as the end of the story when I finally release it, so instead of writing a huge author's note at the end of that last chapter, I'll just write a little reminder that there's more to come. I may not start releasing some of the last chapters of Act 1 until the Entr'acte and Act 2 have been completely edited, though, which will depend on my editor's availability, so there could be another nasty gap in chapter publishing when that starts.

My apologies that it's been taking so long, but those of you who know what I've been dealing with (I've been posting about it, so it's not like it's a secret) know why I haven't exactly been in a writing state (other than because of writer's block). Some of it is going to show up in the story, so if you haven't been following, I guess I should say 'spoilers' if you don't want to find out until later. It will be explained, so you'll learn a little bit in the process (hey, I WAS aiming to be a teacher, after all), but I'm going to try and avoid becoming too tell-y. My editor will likely help me with that— that's why I've got him.

I don't want to say much more or I may let some spoilers slip, but I'll leave you with this: you're all in for a treat (multiple treats, actually) thanks to my friend, Ayemel. She'll be done way before I am, and thanks to her, you'll be getting a little side story after the Entr'acte is completely published.

Stay healthy, everyone!
