ChrysaLight, Twysalis... I can't decide. Wanna know something else I can't decide on? Cover art, that's what!
I'm working on a one-shot, slowly but surely, and I need to pick cover art. Lately I've been assembling my own from re-used vectors, but this time I didn't find any I liked. Instead I took Anonymoose's route and stole some from the IDW comics. I made some slight edits to them, and here we go.
Without giving too much away, Chrysalis is pestering a grumpily perturbed Twilight with jokes so bad they make a Vogon poetry reading sound preferable.

I would also say #1, just because the other two feel edited (difference in thickness of font (but that could be my fault)). But I like the joke in #2 more and #3 feels more like a cover-art for a Chrysalight-fic.
Seriously, the Chrysalis arc of the comics was flawless. Artwork, voices, everything was spot-on.
Also I'm totally borrowing Anonymoose's Chrysalis. Once I'd read This Date and the sequel, there was no going back.

It's possible. The IDW comics are superb at working in more references than you can shake a stick at.

2 and 3 were text-edited, yes, and I did it with the first free downloadable comic font I found, so it's not an exact match for the existing text. I'd have done better to delete all the comics text and re-type it in matching fonts, but I was doing this at work and didn't have time to get fancy. 2 and 3 do fit the "feel" of the story a little better.

I vote #3, it just feels more like cover-art. Barring that #2.
Although, have you considered trying some of these images with no dialogue at all?
EDIT: And I really need to check the date on these posts before responding to them, it looks like.
