3 Year Anniversary · 5:23am Nov 7th, 2014
In a way, this is both a bit early and a bit late. I guess that evens out and makes it on time...? In any case, I recently realized that, hey, I've been a member of this site for over 3 years now.
Back in October of 2011, when MLP season 2 had just started and the site was merely an infant of what it has grown to be, I began reading stories frequently on the site. I didn't officially create my account, originally zeldamaster52, until that November making it the first fanfiction website I officially dedicated myself to. Before this fandom I had officially sworn off ever reading fanfiction due to its bad reputation, but this fandom went far beyond my expectations(in good and bad ways alike).
In the years since, a lot has changed. During 2012, I had decicated nearly every day from late January to mid June writing tales of the OC I created, Blue Breeze, going on crazy escapades with the friends he made. If not for being inspired by stories from Kickass222urmom and KillJoy, this never would've happened and I never would've made the friends I did. Later, I had come upon a dry spill of inspiration, trying my hand with new stories and continuing more stories about Blue Breeze at a slower rate, eventually calling it quits on the character's stories after I felt I was tired of writing.
In 2013, things had been mostly quiet, myself having been hit with depression for the large majority of the year that made me feel unmotivated. I did, however, write my first non-OC story, that of Some Berry Big Steps, easily my most well received story(despite having many flaws in hindsight). During this year, many of the friends and writers I followed here on Fimfiction began to disappear, slow down, or completely stop writing. This further added to the feeling of depression I had been going through, which was easily one of the roughest times in my life.
And now, in 2014, almost nothing at all worth talking about has happened. I have not written a single story, none of the writers I follow have made sign of picking up(if anything they've become slower), and Fimfiction's overall feel, in my opinion, has become far less meaningful and more sterile.
Despite my decline in interest towards the site, I have stuck around due to moral commitments I've made to certain people. If not for them, I'd have left a long time ago. In particular, I'd like to thank Ice(the one who first motivated me to write), Rhino(who helped as both an editor and cover artist), Bronystories(for staying active and keeping me working for this long), all of the users I had appear in my stories(you know who you are), and to all my viewers, you guys are the ones who made it worth it.
Fimfiction has been a bumpy ride, but it's one I don't regret taking.
People come and they go. Personally, I hang around in some of the Skype groups about the site and chat to people. You meet a lot of cool people that way. Congratulations on three years!
*salute*
Writers have gotten slower? Hogwash, I don't have a blasted clue what you could possibly be talking about!
...
Seriously though: stick around, and I'm sure it'll pick back up. And we don't want to lose you.
Me and my boyfriend met on fimfic, we've been dating for over a year now, but it's still just a cyber relationship.
Thanks for the shoutout! I'm not going away. I have too many stories to finish! It's difficult because I have enough free time to research and write up my monthly Rule 34 blog post. After the 10th of every month, I always say to myself, "Alright! I have a solid couple of weeks to write stories before I need to focus on next month's update." But something always seems to crop up which prevents me from making any progress.
I wanted to thank you for all your advice and editing skills over the years. I'm glad that I played a small role in keeping you connected to this site. My plan is for the December 10th update to be more sparse than usual in order to facilitate more time to write. I want to get another story out by the end of the year. If the only way to accomplish that is by shortening the length of my blogs, then so be it.
As always, I appreciate your editing services whenever you're available.
