As I'm sure some of you may be aware of already, a user by the name of mariic has finally opened up a TVTropes page for The Equestrian Wind Mage. (you beautiful person, you) So, I'm officially announcing its existence so that all of you lovelies may go forth and contribute to it!
And because I'm motivated by just how awesome you guys all are, I want to give something back in return. (while still getting something in return because college whoops)

I just came here from TVTropes. At first it made me really want to read it... Then two facepalm worthy bits nearly convinced me not to read it.
1.) Vaati curbstomping Discord. I know it's sorta justified in the story, but for it really shouldn't have happened in the first place. One is a God, the other is a wizard. This shouldn't have been a straight up fight. Vaati should have used his wits, not his brawn, to win this.
2.) The Vaati/Luna ship not leaving drydock because of bestiality concerns. Would wanting to fuck an Asari from Mass Effect count as bestiality (or any Sci-Fi alien race for that matter)? No? Then neither should Vaati shacking up with Luna count as such. Equestrian Ponies are, by any sane definition, people.
Yes, I know these are relatively minor things, and thus I'm likely to still read this, but these bit really pissed me off.

No, but I would have no moral objection to someone else choicing to do so (provided all parties were consenting, of course). And because said sapient talking dog would be a person, it wouldn't be bestiality.
Besides which, the problem is easily solved by giving Luna the ability to transform into a hylian woman.
But honestly, that's a semantics thing. The Discord curb stomp is a bigger issue. Vaati beating him with brute force, while partly justified by the whole "caught by surprise" thing, is a huged missed opportunity for a battle of wits between Vaati and an immature version of Q. It also demonstrates a much more genuine problem with the tale; nothing on the Equestria side of the crossover seem at all threatening or important. Only stuff from Hyrule seem at all important to the plot or threatening. It makes the whole excersise of a crossover seem pointless.

Sombra is actually threatening. And he won't be the only Equestrian villain that presents a true threat, if I can find a way to add Tirek and/or Grogar.
As for Luna becoming a Hylian woman, I actually am tossing that possibility around in my head.
And writing a battle of wits would require knowledge of witty banter and cleverness. And I'm blunt and dumb as a post. I'll let you in on a secret; because of that, Discord and Pinkie Pie are extremely difficult for me to write and not be OOC as a result, because I have trouble understanding the way they think, which means I have trouble knowing how they would react to the situations I put them in. That is a problem that has vexed me since I first started writing pony fanfiction, and it is the one people mainly have a beef with me about. I do everything I can, but I'm not perfect; I'm not a professional. If I were, I probably wouldn't be writing fanfics right now. Does the story have its issues? Yes. I won't deny that. But don't let them ruin the whole story for you; otherwise I end up feeling like I screwed up on the one thing I'm actually good at.

Yeah, that's what I'm getting at. If they were anthro, having some human-like physical qualities, then it'd be different. But these are pure ponies, only different from regular horses by size, color, and intelligence.

Exactly. In order for it to be sexually appealing to us, it's gotta have some humanity to it. If they are ponies, what's the thing people do to make them go from cute to sexy? Put them in lingerie/socks/other sexually-revealing outfits. Which is odd since they normally don't wear anything at all. You see where I'm getting at?
