New Story Synopsis: Hate Thy Neighbor · 8:36pm Oct 10th, 2014
Since Shades of Night is approaching its ending, I think it's about time I share my next story idea with you guys. As I said in my last blog post this next story will feature Trixie and Queen Chrysalis. I first came up with the idea for this back in January and posted a synopsis, but I've made some changes to it and updated some ideas, so here's the rundown of the story's plot:
Hate Thy Neighbor
This comedy follows three neighbors living in a small apartment building in Manehattan. The building is a three-story complex with the first floor being the front desk area, the second floor holding one large condo, and the third floor holding two smaller apartments.
Living in the condo is Adrian Lewit, a mixed-race twenty-four-year-old human working for Phantom Foal Studios, an animation studio in the big city He's currently animating one of the studio's popular cartoons, but wants to get his own series greenlit. The job still pays well, so he's not complaining. He was the first of the three neighbors to move into the building and lives with Rusty, a smart-aleck talking jackalope and Adrian's best friend and pet. Adrian is usually a nice guy, but when crossed, he becomes rather vindictive, more so than he needs to be sometimes.
Beatrix "Trixie" Lulamoon is a twenty-two-year-old unicorn with a permanent gig in Manehattan as a professional showmare. She has garnered a number of fans and admirers and is able to live in one of the cushy apartments one floor above Adrian. Trixie prefers to practice most of her acts at home, which causes a lot of noise, much to the chagrin of her neighbors. She tries to be a good mare at heart, but sometimes she cant help becoming full of herself and tooting her own horn every now and then.
Finally in the second apartment next to Trixie's, lives Queen Chrysalis, or should I say Ex-Queen Chrysalis. After losing her battle at Canterlot and subsequently failing to convert Twilight Sparkle (read the first 4 issues of the IDW comics), the changelings decided to overthrow her and have a new queen take her place, effectively sending poor Chryssie into exile. After months of trying to survive on her own, she eventually gives in and begs the Royal Sisters of Equestria to grant her citizenship so she could have a place to live. After much consideration, the princesses agreed to letting her live in Equestria and they arrange for her to live in Manehattan under the condition that she spend a year under the strict surveillance of the Manehattan Police Department and undercover Canterlot guards. At the same time, though, she is also under their protection, as no citizen may bring any unwarranted harm to her. Under these terms, Chrysalis is allowed to feed on love, so long as she does it safely and humanely.
During her time in Manehattan, the former queen has taken up a job as a model for an observational drawing class at the Manehattan Institute of Art, taking advantage of her shapeshifting abilities. She also uses it to feed on any excess lust from some of the more... "unprofessional" students in the class. Outside of work, Chrysalis regularly seduces stallions (and even some mares) while in disguise and takes them back to her apartment at night. Since her bedroom is right above Adrian's, her... "nighttime shenanigans" are heard in full detail by the poor man. Chrysalis's venomous personality is also a bother to both Adrian and Trixie.
These three have been living in the same building for over a year now and to this day cannot stand each other, but an unfortunate event end up bringing them too close for comfort, and if you want to find out what that event is, you'll have to wait and see.
Okay, so this is going to be an HiE/Anthro story that takes place in a universe where humans and ponies coexist (if you're surprised at this, shame on you). It takes place around the same time as season 4, but in an alternate timeline. It's mainly going to be a comedy story, and the humor is going to be more mature than most of my other stories. I've been going over the ratings guidelines to see what I should rate this, and I've settle on a Mature rating. Yes, this will be my first Mature-rated story. I also researched the guidelines for the "Sex" and "Gore" tags and came across this tidbit:
On a Teen rated story, 'sex' can be used to indicate sexual humor or situations that are heated but don't have explicit sex.
With that information, I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that for a Mature-rated story, sexual humor doesn't need to be indicated by the "Sex" tag, and it only has to be used when there's actual explicit sex scenes in the story, which there won't be. If I end up being wrong, the worst thing that will happen is that the mods will ask me to add the sex tag, so I'm not too worried.
I had a height chart of the characters' heights and appearances, but the scanner I bought for my dorm room apparently didn't come packaged with the cable that connects the scanner to my computer (which is bullshit). Anyway, once SoN is finished, I'll start working on the cover art while writing chapters of MOA: Alternate Perspectives, and once the cover art is done, I'll write the first chapter.

OK, I definitely want to see this story appear soon. It would be interesting to see your definition of Mature humor and seeing Adrian clash with Trixie and Chrysalis. BTW, do you think that Adrian would notice that Chrissy and Trixie have similar voices (Kathleen Barr).
