[STORY] I'm canceling Ponification Nation · 10:15pm Sep 27th, 2014
There's really not much more to say... I suppose I could explain why...
Primary reason, I just am not super interested in the story anymore. Sure, the CONCEPT is awesome, but I've got bills and a wife and things to get done, and telling a patriotic story about the American Dream via MLP inspired ponies just didn't capture my attention much after the second chapter got written, coupled with the inevitable flamewars from the America-haters that WOULD start that I simply don't have time to moderate.
So what WOULD have happened? Here's a brief synopsis of ideas I was going to write:
* Princess Columbia (My character) would become the de-facto leader of the ponies in the US, thrust into the roll thanks to Columbia and family being the ONLY alicorns on the planet.
* Princess Leah Rachel (My wife's character...inside joke) would become the de-facto leader of the ponies in Israel, owing to her cutiemark being a Star of David (she's a pretty outspoken advocate of remembering The Holocaust and promoting Jewish culture and tradition...even though she's not Jewish. :p)
* The first major conflict would be the US ponies vs. the military of a small middle-eastern or African nation that's seeking to kill ALL ponified people, with a subplot of the first foal born to a pony couple
* The second major conflict would be finding the Earth's Elements of Harmony to combat John deLancie, who unknown to anyone but himself was turned into Discord by the ponyfication. The Elements would have healed his mind of the chaos and returned him to being human.
* The third "conflict" would be Columbia needing to grow into the leadership position, and would do so by seeking out influential leaders on Earth like John Maxwell, the Dalai Lama, the Prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, etc. The sub-plot of the story would be discovering that Lauren Faust had also been turned into an Alicorn, but had been in hiding. Through Columbia's journey, the Fausticorn is able to overcome her fear of her new existence.
* The final story arc was going to involve a terrorist group calling themselves "#Haters," direct political conflict with the current Executive branch of the U.S.A., and a civil rights for Ponies movement.
You're probably right that this story would have gotten lots of unhappy discussion. Still, even if it might not have done well on the site, there's nothing to fault in wanting to write something that you would enjoy writing. (And, well, as far as writing fun ideas goes, the more unfortunate implications an idea could result in the harder it is to make it actually work well, but you didn't even get that far so...) Anyways, even if this didn't work out for you, I do hope that you're not discouraged from trying to write something in the future.

To clarify, it wasn't just the flamewars that made me leery (though, take a look at what's happened to RealityCheck's latest one-shot and it's enough to make you eschew controversial topics all-together), it was that plus just not really having much time to manage it AND the fact that the initial burst of inspiration just sorta...faded after a while. I never gave this story the attention it deserved, never put in the work to make it really worth reading, so by the time I'd get around to hammering out any text, it just wasn't worth my time or anyone else's.
