SalvageCon, woo! · 12:37pm Sep 27th, 2014
For the past 40 hours I have been on the opposite side of the country to where I live, in a gigantic, alien city known as Sydney.
I've spent a good 25 of them walking many laps around the CBD; I must have covered at least 30 kilometres on foot by now, perhaps more.
I've eaten a strange variety of food, going out of my comfort zone quite a few times.
I've have seen Guardians of the Galaxy on the world's largest Imax cinema screen with more bronies at a time than I have ever seen before.
I got a glass of Jack Daniel's Single Barrel at a bar for the same price as regular Jack Daniel's.
Did I mention I've done a shitload of walking?
But around all that, I finally attended my first pony convention: SalvageCon!
All things considered, it was quite a marvelous day. I picked me up some cool pony swag—you can see the photos below.
I wandered around for a while, meeting a whole bunch of people. I stood in line for over an hour to meet and greet Ashleigh Ball, who despite having a constant swarm of fans descending upon her, retained her smile and great attitude. I saw a fantastic cosplaying couple of Sombra and Chrysalis.
Oh, and that panel I ended up attending with Ausbrony, Autocharth and TheSlorg was nowhere near as nerve-wracking as I thought it would be. That was recorded, by the way, so hopefully you guys will get to see me speaking soon (if you feel so inclined). The video should be up in the near future.
Highlight of my day, though, has to go to meeting Feather, having her sign my commissioned art from SynCallio, having a regular old yarn about things, and getting multiple hugs.
I also somehow managed to win a Fluttershy-face cushion, which just happened to have been donated to the auction by Feather herself.
I had no idea. Feather came up to me and told me to take good care of it and love it as much as she had, and I just sorta went "Wha?" She then went and signed that for me too. So that was pretty awesome.
I also had a match of the MLP card game with none other than Immatoonlink. I was expecting that someone who can make such crazy videos as Very Hot and Rainbow Dash is Excited would have to be at least little crazy, but he was just something else. Most hyperactive dude I think I've ever met. Funny, though.
I'd go into a lot more detail about the con, but honestly, I'm pooped. My head aches, my stomach rumbles, and my eyes droop. So I'll just leave you guys with the pics of my merch. I'll also post the video when I get the upload link.

An enormous thank you to everyone who made this con possible. Without them, I would have wasted over a thousand dollars coming here for no reason in the wake of Sydneigh's cancellation.
Tomorrow: PikaCon!
Oh yes, I will be watching you talk, ready to see how I can twist your words against you and point out your blatant incorrectness, MWAHAHA!
Cool that you had so much fun. I've yet to go to a convention, although I understand there's one right here in the town I live in every year. Maybe I'll try it out this time. Although I will say that I really don't get the whole cosplaying thing. Not at all.
Dude, if there's another time you go to a con, let me know, I'll swag you up for it big time. Rocks that you got mad merch.
I have pillows kinda like that fluttershy one, but I only spent like 5$ on each, so I'd suppose not as cool.
Better than the Grand Brony Gala. All I got was a Shining Armor aviator hat and had no FIMFic member to talk to.
OMG the ball pit.
SO JEALOUSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
Glad you had fun though.
Sounds like you had a blast. Jelly you dueled IMMAtoonlink. Glad this worked out.
