So, I've been going over who I wanted to pair Sarah with. Originally I considered her having a typical romance, some nice young man she met, fell in love with, and so on, but that's changed. I'm actually considering having her have a relationship with one of the ponies. That said, I've been trying to figure out who I wanted her to have a relationship with. Since Big Mac is already taken, Prince Blueblood is an arrogant ass, it starts dwindling down to who could possibly be available afterwards. then it hit me. Does it really have to be a dude? With the exception of her brother, and a few guys she's barely met from the Arcade, her experience with men has been terrible. After all her father was basically selling her to another family for a couple of cows and a bull. And Jeffy Biggin was, according to Sarah, a wife beater and martial raper.
It was at that point that I realized I had a chance, a real chance, to expand Sarah's character out. So... I'm not thinking full fledged lesbian, certainly still in the closet thanks to how she was brought up, and still trying to figure out her sexuality. She's going to need someone who's able to be there for her, and someone who could give her support. That said... I'm of a mind to put her with either a mare or a stallion. The stallions I have in mind are the following:
Thunderlane
Caramel
One of the Lunar Pegasi (Going to go with Sound Ray as his name)
Flash Sentry (Not a big fan of Flash, but I figure I could take the character, give him a slight overhaul, and make him someone to somewhat proud of)
Soarin'
Flim
and/or
Flam
The mares I have in mind are the following:
Rose Luck
Fleetfoot
Surprise
The Great and Powerful Trixie
Marble Pie
and/or
Maud Pie
I am however open to suggestions, and I'm bringing this up because as much I've enjoyed writing the character, and I have, I want to give her a chance to really blossom. So far she's been something of Andy's Maud. She's expressive, perhaps a bit more than Maud, but it's only when Andy, or Pinkie, has been the subject of ridicule that she's really become vocal. I want to give her a story where she has the chance to grow.
So... With that said... Who should she end up with, and if you have a personal suggest please list them.

Can I only imagine the panic and chaos that would ensue if Sarah hooked up with Surprise! A Pegasus Pinkie Pie clone?

That's a vote for Surprise, and yeah, that's kind of what I was thinking too when I thought about adding her in. It would be so much fun to watch Surprise get Sarah to open up. Pinkie did a fantastic job with Andy, so it would stand to reason that Surprise could do a fabulous job with Sarah.
I was going to add Cheese Sandwich to the list, but I wasn't sure how the interaction between Pinkie and Cheese would be. I want to say it would be fine, and it should be, but I almost wonder how Andy would take it. I mean he's obviously a brony, and I'm sure that he's come across stories and fan headcannon dealing with Cheese and Pinkie.
Which could turn into an interesting set of events.

I vote for Maud just to see a sibling double date lol.
I think pairing her with a pony is sorta jumping the gun. She just escaped her old life. Perhaps an adjustment period of her testing the waters with human males. Then you have to type how she got into the show so she could actually be into mlp stallions.
Maybe a nice guy from school or something to Start her off. ease into it. You just don't get into a car and floor it.

True enough, and I don't want to be forcing her into something too quickly. I'm still going to keep the suggestions in mind for later on, but I think that you're right about the here and now. The best thing possible for her would be to gain a friend, first and foremost, and then let things progress slowly and naturally.
Whoever befriends her is going to have to deal with the fact that she is going to take time to talk out of her shell. Like Andy she's going to need to heal. The first step in that is friends.
