Side-story Query · 10:57am Sep 3rd, 2014
I've been thinking about this sub-plot featuring Scootaloo and Spike. As you know, the only (so far) chapter focussing on it is marked as an 'interlude'. I'm wondering whether it would be better to separate the two plots entirely (they aren't really connected all that much), and make a new side-story focussing solely on the pair. To do this, I'd most likely remove the chapter from Pinkie Personalities, and re-upload it with the second chapter of their tale as a new story. The alternative would be to continue writing their story as interludes, as part of Pinkie Personalities.
What do you guys think about this? I think it's ok to do the first option from looking at the site rules, but does anybody know if I'm getting that wrong? Please leave some feedback in the comments, and I'll figure out the best way to deal with this little romance.
I just read your story yesterday and really liked every chapter. I'd say that if the side story has no real connection to the plot then it'd probably be a good idea to split it off as a side story, otherwise it'd best be kept in with PP.
I also think that the Spike/Scootaloo interludes should be it's own story. Especially, if it has nothing to do with the main plot.
I think it would work well as a side story, otherwise I don't think it'll get the same amount of appreciation if it is continued in Pinkie Personalities. While the side plot is good (Spike and Scoots, what an interesting ship! Refreshing.), I think people wouldn't be as thrilled to read a new chapter if they were expecting a Pinkie Pie chapter and got a ScootaSpike chapter, you know what I mean?
That being said, there's nothing stopping you from adding, say, a paragraph every few chapters alluding to what Scootaloo and Spike are up to to tie in the side story and still have elements of ScootaSpike in Pinkie Personalities.
Just some thoughts.
I'm for this side-story idea, I'm currently doing something similar with one of my projects. I think it would be fine as long as you start with 2 chapters and mention that the first chapter is from Pinkie Personalities.
I like this idea, it will let the two stories focus on their respective plots. I approve.
Trust me, if the plots are not connected very much its best to do a side story that ties in to the main. It worked great with Lightning Dash! People like it far better then my main story.
Look, do whatever you want. It's your story. I'll read it anyway, unless you pull some weird ships, in which case I'll flee like a rat before the ship sinks . But seriously, do whatever makes you most comfortable. Trust me, it'll help you write better, longer and more often. And anything which allows that I'm cool with. Cheers!
Oh! OH! But wouldn't it be so cool if...
Surprise!
Surprise!
Sorry, I'm just SO EXCITED!! OMYGOSH!! WOO-HOO!!!
