Mind doing me a favor while I write TCIM? · 5:43pm Jul 25th, 2014
I've had many Pm's all asking about certain details of my latest story, Cinnamon.
Buuuut instead of answering them myself, I'ma just leave that to you while I crack on with The Child In Me's upcoming chappy!
So yeah, what do YOU think was going on in the story? Why was Steven the way he was? What exactly was the Phantom Luna?
And, a question I've been asked thrice, what is the meaning of the story's title - The Five Stages?
Good luck, I'll give a cookie to whoever get's them all right first :)
My guess is the Kübler-ross model, or the Five stages of grief. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. But I just like cookies, so that is just me.

2315214 On the cookies or the model? Because I want that cookie.
2315215 both
I think that it could be his subconscious mind telling him that he's wrong, it could be Luna using some sorta magic to manipulate him. It could be what SpartanNinja had said. It could be a whole lot of things.
All cookies come from me ;)
I got the five stages of denial, Phantom Luna was a subconscious recollection of the Luna he loved AND the object of denial, and his actions were because he was in denial.
The five stages of grief are used with breakups or the death of someone special. First stage is denial, then it's anger, afterwards it's bargaining, then depression, and finally acceptance.
As for who is this phantom Luna is, I'm starting to think it wasn't a illusion but sometype of spiritual being that took the form of Luna to help Steven with his issues.
Well, just as everyone else surely will guess, the Five stages of grief. As for Phantom-Luna, I'd say that it was akin to a spirit or phantasm of some sort, with a minor ability in mind/memory reading. If you look back in the story, she talks like Luna did when they broke up until the point where Steven sees Luna again and hears how she'd dropped her "ye olde speech." Also until the meeting, the Phantom only mentioned things from Steven's memory, but when he saw Luna again, it quickly looked into her memory, which explains when she commented about his picture.

2315482 So now the question is why did the phantom do it? How does doing that benefit itself? Hmmm....
It was Q. He's moved on from Picard and found himself a new plaything.
2316583 maybe it's something like A Christmas Carol: to atone for something they did, either out of guilt or as a penance.
2316646 Excellent analogy.
