Need A Title for Story! · 11:57am Jul 9th, 2014
Hi I need a title for a story that I've finished writing. It was supposed to be called 'One Fine Day' but my editor and I worked to throw that idea right out. So I would like ask my beloved readers for their assistance.
Sometimes a good deed or a generous gift can truly go a long way: it can even form new friendships and take a pony places they weren't expecting to go. When a tragedy-stricken Applejack receives a letter in the mail, containing some money from a dear friend of hers, she sets in motion an impulsive series of events that change not only her life, but her heart.
Also the story has come to roughly 12k words which it was quite a lot I know but it will be totally worth it! So if you have any good ideas for a title please let me know.
Lastly, this is my mood at present:
I await your ideas.
- Crystal Secret
The Purest Apple.
Sorry, that's all I have for a title.
First thoughts:
"Paying it Forward"
"A Silver Lining" (works best if the letter arrived in a envelope with a silver lining)
"Out of The Ashes" (works especially well if the tragedy involved a fire)
/just my initial 2 cents, lol
Without seeing the actual story, I can't offer much assistance. Heck, I don't even know if the story's a tragedy or not. Sure the description hints at tragedy, or at least sad, but I'm honestly not sure—especially since you previously called it One Fine Day.
Sorry, but I can't really help you unless I know more.
"Basking in the Light" (Assuming the gift is from Rarity, the 'light of generosity'?)
"Eyes Back, Hooves Forward"
"Another Kind of Fruit" (As in the rewards of the path taken)
...and that's all I got.
"In These Dark Hours,"
"Contribution"
Context is important, but that's what comes to mind for me,
I would go with what 2269109 said on either "Basking In The Light" or maybe "Another Kind Fruit"
Or "A Change Of Spirit?" ...That was one I just came up with.
Meh, brain is tired what could I say. :P
*scurries back to his writing.*
Letter of Tumult
Sending Tumult
A Blown Apple
Shift in Spirit
Dark Message
I dunno. I suck at naming titles. I'd make the name to match the cover picture.
Hi there, Crystal! Sorry to bother you; just thought I'd toss in my two cents, if you don't mind.
Ideally, I think a title should both let readers know what they're getting into, and get their imaginations going. That in mind, based on the synopsis you've given us, I would suggest something like "A Letter for Applejack." Personally, I'm always more interested in titles that leave out the dramatic adjectives and the bold poetic statements, and just tell us what the story is.
I hope it doesn't seem like I'm being condescending, I swear that couldn't be further from my intentions; I just thought I'd throw it out there. Thanks!
Mad Jack: Beyond Appledome
(it sounds funny)
"Buying Happiness" might work if money turns out to be an important theme or if the money starts off the series of events.
