Yeah, it's a day early. But I'll be busy tomorrow, so I may as well say it now.

Come Down from Your Crystal Fortress, Twilight

I've been rewatching Season 4 a bit, and I can't help but wonder: does anyone else get the impression that Twilight was originally supposed to set up shop in the old castle? Before they hit us with that big ol' crystal treehouse playset thing, that is. I mean, why else would the gang be housecleaning a medieval ruin of all things? :rainbowderp:

    Change of Pace

Mystery Night in Ponyville is now complete, with all the pomp and ceremony that such an event demands. (Yay!) Now that that's done, I'm at a bit of a loss for where to go from here. I won't deny that I'm winding down a bit as far as the big multi-part fics are concerned, but I still enjoy writing, so I figure I'll stick to one-shots for the next while. Hopefully there'll be some new

    Flutterceps - Unfortunate Implications

I've gotten a few positive comments about the shipping overtones in Mystery Night in Ponyville, especially concerning the pairing of a particular animal lover with an equally particular steroid junkie. But then I see some of the new screenshots for Rainbow Rocks, and I notice that Bulkie is apparently the PhysEd teacher... at a high school in which Fluttershy is a student...

New Fics and Old Tricks · 3:45am Jun 2nd, 2012

The first part of my latest fic, Rainbow Dash and the Treasure of Canterlot, is now on Fimfiction. That's right, you guys are finally getting something new for a change. This will be my first serious attempt at an adventure-type fic, so I'm rather excited to see how it fares next to my other fics.

Return of the Fraternal Brotherhood of Mann has met with rave reviews so far. In particular, a number of readers have asked if there's going to be another sequel. Now, I could give you all the short answer on this one (probably not), but that would likely rub a few of you the wrong way, so instead, let me tell you a little story...

The Fraternal Brotherhood of Mann, the original that is, was one of those fics that is just plain fun to write. It wasn't just that I had all these neat little scenes and dialogues thought out in my head that I got to put to paper (figuratively speaking). The real fun was in the characters. A big thing about fanfiction is that we're usually working with characters that have already been developed. With the stallions of the Brotherhood however, I was working with characters who had very little development. Most had only mere seconds of screen-time to their names, and of the seven Brothers who weren't Big Macintosh, only two had anything approaching established fanon personalities, and since those were "being a crossover" and "being gay", I pretty much had to come up with seven new characters pretty much from scratch. That was the really fun part, and that's the problem with doing a sequel. Sure I can replicate that winning combination of minimal plot and witty dialogue, but the invention is gone now, and it just isn't as fun anymore.

This isn't to say this is the end of Mann. Applebloom vs. the Eighteenth Amendment is pretty much a Brotherhood side-story, and I hope to continue working with the characters I've imagined, be it a foul-mouthed Horte Cuisine, or a Doctor Whoof who isn't Doctor Who. But as for another Brotherhood story, the unfortunate truth is that unless inspiration strikes down from Heaven with a righteous fury upon me, there probably isn't going to be a third Brotherhood fic.

Now that that's out of the way, please enjoy Rainbow Dash and the Treasure of Canterlot!

I must ask... Would the Fraternal Brotherhood of Mann be exclusive to Ponyville, or would there be other groups around Equestria?
It's just been bugging me, thinking about it.

Well, this Treasure Of Canterlot sounds interesting! :pinkiehappy:

148282 Yes, the Brotherhood is exclusive to Ponyville and its current roster of ten. For the sake of argument however, I will point out that the concept of Mann is based on the notion of humanity as some sort of "progenitor race" to ponies, so in theory there could be similar groups following other fragments of human culture.

Here comes the inspiration from Heaven! :rainbowlaugh: I think it's furious enough?
