About Lost Kingdom... · 3:03pm Jun 17th, 2014
Now before you jump to the worst case scenario, I'm not giving up on LK. That said, a constructive comment recently made on the story has prompted me to really think about the story and the problems it faces. And seeing as how some of you have been way, WAY beyond patient with this story, I feel as though you deserve to hear this.
Now, the main problem with me and LK right now is, for the chapters currently posted, I had the model of the previous version to work off of and alter. But I'm nearing the point where the original version died off, and seeing as how I was eager to get the new version out there, I didn't really take the time to work out exactly how to get from where the story is to where I want it to be. I didn't plan out each phase as well as I should have.
Another problem is it's pretty daunting not only having a blank page to work off of, but also having to use the mane six. I don't know why but, with the exception of Pinkie, I get terrified of misrepresenting the characters (Applejack's accent is especially troubling for an Aussie to image as text).
But as already stated, I am not giving up on this story. Too much time has been invested in it and I'm still a little surprised it has as many favourites as it does. What's more, the story has actually been on my mind every day for the past few weeks, and over the past few hours I have begun brainstorming how to progress the story further and new plot devices to use. The main problem for me is translating the ideas that seem amazing in my head onto text, something I continue to struggle with.
I'd also like to take this time to thank everyone who's given Lost Kingdom a favourite, comment, thumbs up or even just a view. It doesn't matter whether you've only just discovered the story or if you liked it when the original version went online over a year ago, I do genuinely appreciate it and I do feel bad for getting so distracted that it takes six months between chapters getting uploaded. I won't make any promises because I've done that before and look where that got us. So I'll just say thank you for sticking around, sorry for continually making you wait, and know that I WILL try to get the story back on track as soon as possible.
Thank you for your time.
Riku
Good to hear!
