Just your average flying pony with a little more to carry than his own wings can handle

When a pilot finds himself trapped with no good choices left, what will he do? Good intentions conflict with harsh realith, and he has to balance saving lives against losing his own before he can help.

The Last Link, Chapter 5 is in the wild! · 6:16am Jun 10th, 2014

Lessons Learned

So it's up, only a few days late. I apologize for that; I worked on Kon Patrol at A-Kon this past weekend, and I really wore myself out with a couple of twelve-hour nights and not enough rest during the day. It was an amazing experience, and I'm really glad I did it, but it made it impossible to do the tweaking I wanted to.

That, and do any dishes, or laundry, or anything. On the upside, I probably walked about eight miles each day, so I got my exercise in!

Anyway, Chapter 5 is up, and as I promised, it gives some backstory, both for Featherprop and for the story itself. While writing it, I was surprised at how it turned; this is where the writing process both gelled for me and ran away in glee- it expanded beyond the dimensions I expected, with some darker elements creeping in. Nothing gory, though, I promise. I wanted to inject a sense of urgency, to convey the way a feeling of duty can interfere with the dry process of making decisions. Life is never neat and tidy, and part of ADM (Aviation Decision Making) is trying to ignore those emotions and feelings. For the safety expert, the best pilot would be a Vulcan.

Ponies aren't Vulcans, and neither are people. It's what makes Ponies so loveable. People, I'm not so sure about, but there are a few exceptions.
