I'm two weeks behind on posting, so I'll start early. Here's the last next chapter of The Last Link: A Sort of Homecoming!
This chapter actually came together fairly quickly, though quite late in the game. By the time I decided a little more was needed, I had a good idea of the characters, how they interacted, and what needed to happen to finish things off. I just needed a bridge.
I had to come up with a few extras, but they were probably the most fun to write. I've noticed that most of the characters in here reflect, in a wibbly-wobbly sort of way, people I know. Aspects of them, at least. I don't know if that's cheating or not, or if changing those characters is the cheating part.
I took some greater liberties with technology and such, too, but it was just too much fun to write it- I got going and it just flowed and flowed. I hope it still works. I actually worry about that- all the other chapters, I'm still looking at them critically and disliking how stuff was done. This one, I just enjoy reading, even though I'm the dork who wrote it.
... Maybe next I'll write a second-person shipfic featuring the reader watching an ultra-Gary Stu representation of myself getting slobbered over by all the ponies. And not just the mares- the stallions will go wild for my Gary Stu as well! With his big, strong hands providing long, caring rubdowns into the late night and his superkind ways that soothe their skittish herd mentality, he'll m'lady and m'dude his way into all their hearts.
Sad thing is, it'd get WAY more attention.
Anyway, sorry for making you all wait so long to read the end this!
