The Album & The Album 2 -- Good Times, Bad Times, It Keeps On Keeping On · 7:36am Jun 7th, 2014
So as I near my second year anniversary of being on FiMFiction (Good God, where did this last year go?! And why do I have so little to show for it?!?!), I look back on everything that has happened. Of what I have done, what I haven't...and the far too much stuff I have yet to do. So I hope.
Y'know, there's really no telling how long any of this will last. Things have changed mightily since I got here, and plenty of people always mentioned how much things had changed even before I got on the scene. How much more change can we, the fandom, endure? I personally think more than a lot of people seem to expect, but, again, you never really know. I'll still be here so long as I have people to be here with. And I don't see that fading particularly soon, so I'm not worried.
It's my personal prediction the show will go for six seasons. Maybe they can push more, but six years puts the majority of their target audience who started with the show into their teens--when they'll likely be after something different--while aging up the beginnings of the next generation of said target audience ripe for Gen 5. But, again, who knows. I am no marketer, no economist. I've no idea what Hasbro's books look like. Bet they'll keep the comic going for as long as it makes money, though. Toy properties and comics have a bizarre relationship.
Anyways, that's all not even anything like a point like I'm trying to get. The point is: I've been looking at The Album again. And wanting to put an actual Complete tag on it (though, in reality, there's honestly no such thing for a project like that). So I'm going to see which of the absolute worst absences are still around and try and get those filled (Did you know Rarity has no snapshot? One of the Mane 6 did not get a snapshot!) and then put Complete. The new season three and four characters who did not exist at the time of major work will also be added.
At the same time, I think I'll get started on the first preparations of The Album 2. I know, it seems like, "Oh look, PC is once again overloading himself with too many projects." and maybe it's true. But with The Album, it's a bit different. It's a much easier project that I can throw intermittent bursts of activity at, rather than needing too much time or effort. Much more a background thing. I've got The Album under my belt to show I can handle this. Besides, most of my time is in the OCT at the moment. That thing is taking effort--but the results are gonna be great. Consider The Album 2 to be my 'break' project. When I need something much easier to kind of float on for a bit before getting back into the rough and tumble of the Discordian Games.
Right now I've quickly assembled a list of all the major, secondary, and primary tertiary characters. That list tops at ninety-five. That's including only a handful of the most popular and well known background ponies (Octavia, Vinyl, Derpy, etc.). So, it's a pretty great start. I think I may release it within a week or two. Here's hoping it works out as well as the last one did--oh, and be on the lookout for that updated original list. Just gotta get those last major players.
Anyways, I'm excited at what's to come. Maybe I didn't get nearly as much done this past year as I should have, but what I have gotten done? Well, I feel like it's been pretty damn good. And that's a great feeling.
It's because I wrote Dash instead of Rarey. I ought to be ashamed. Album 2, eh? I'm definitely in.
You have my axe!
