...
No.
Hell yeah! Sign me up. I love military history and while I am personally not a veteran, I have extensive secondhand knowledge to draw from.

You've already been made a contrib.
You know there's already a group about this, right? The Military Handbook? It was designed and created specifically for this purpose months ago.

Yeah, someone pointed it out after I made the group.
Weird thing is, it never came up when I searched for "military".

It's partially because there's an extreme glut of military related groups here. See, since military stories were more of an underground thing at first, there was no one dominant group to go to, as compared to HiE for example. Thus, group came into being for a variety of things; sea, air, land ,World Wars, Cold War, Civil War, and so on and so forth. Each military lover found their individual way to one of these groups, thus each gained popularity at similar rates.
And that's where it comes to today. Many people go to and know for many popular groups, but there's many of them. Indeed, I'd be willing to be that military/war related groups were are one of the most numerous on the site. Because of this the population is extremely fragmented, however, because of the numerous groups (each with large popularity), it's basically impossible to create one group that is dominant place to be for military, as many others already try that, leading to groups that are the same.
It's what I had to tell Classy General way back when he started the General's Battlegrounds: there's literally dozens of groups that are the same as yours, and good intentions and ambition aside, there's nothing new here. A new name and new artwork doesn't change the inner workings, making it generic.
The Handbook was the last one I actually saw potential in because it wasn't about stories (not directly, I mean) it was about helping with the writer's knowledge; and it went well until the notifications were turned off and the forums became a chore to read. Still, we've helped some people.
