Just making this blog saying what most of you probably figured out by now, Writing stories has lost all it's amusement to me. So, don't expect me writing anything else. And I won't be finishing SP, either... So to anyone this disappointing, I'm sorry and I hope you can forgive me for your sake. You guys really are great people though and I wish you the greatest futures possible. ^_^
What's everyone's thoughts of adding technology into the mlp universe like Tv's, computers etc.? And whether it should be something left out of their universe or not. Give me your thoughts and I appreciate it ahead a time.

I've seen fics involving computers and such, like one where the main 6 play Diablo 3.
I don't think TV's are too farfetched for MLPverse, but Equestria might be like Hogwarts in Harry Potter where magic causes technology to be nonfunctional.

Well, this is fanfiction, so essentially you can include whatever type of technology you want. In the show, Equestria's been depicted as at least technologically advanced enough to produce arcade cabinets (Season 2, "Hearts and Hooves Day") so televisions and computers aren't particularly far-fetched. Normally I would ask for some explanation as to how the ponies would be able to use the technology with their hooves, but the majority of your stories are anthro, and I'm assuming you're asking this question because you've hit a roadblock with Split Personalities, so I already know your answer to that.
All things considered, I suppose all I can really say is "Go for it."

I think it all depends on how you build your interpretation of the MLP world. If you're setting it in something similar to how the show is now, than I wouldn't put anything as impossible. However, if you're going for an old-timey world, like the wild west or medieval times, than of course it would be out of place.

Well from the show we know that movies, arcade games, music systems like speakers and scratch tables, appliances like lamps and electrical lighting, refrigerators, ovens (because you can't bake cupcakes and sweets without them of course), perhaps stoves? Then there are other real doohickey gadgets like the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 9000, that one ridiculous fan AJ's dog was under in "just for sidekicks," monitors that read wing powers, machines making clouds out of water, and let's not forget about the trains that are either pulled by horsepower (get it? No seriously, ponies pull this shit, "Over a Barrel" can vouch for that), or coal. And all of those are what I could think of from the top of my head. Honestly, there's so much back and forth between technology and development, would anyone even CARE what exists in Equestria or not? I say fuck with what other people think and just roll with it (with the exception of telephones as that is one of the ONLY things that hasn't been made yet, and messages can be sent through magic or mail, but still). And before anyone says anything, I like to direct your attention to this snip it of a comic panel I found with some slight editing to answer all your questions:

No need to add what's already there. The comics have shown as much. Buuuut, the glass for such seems rounded, like the glass of fortune teller orbs.... so it's likely a magic equivalent. And, such 'tech' has ONLY been shown in advanced societies like Canterlot, so it's likely something only the rich can afford. Computers don't seem advanced enough to have their own screens, so are likely reserved for either rich individuals or those with connections(like Twilight's family). Radios have been shown as well.
Meaning, their tech has enough advancements for such things to exist, but unless using a magical equivalent(like the clear images shown in their magic equivalent to television), said tech mostly is kept in the most basic of forms, forms reserved only for those that are rich enough to actually afford such luxuries.
Oh, also, for much of the advancements shown in the series..... keep in mind, their world is filled with magic. So, it's quite possible that most of the advancements we've seen may in fact be a magical equivalent. It would explain the lack of wires and plugs for using lamps with and the like.
I don't think it's much a change, in regard to the plot of a story. Having modern amenities has more an effect on the world in which a story happens.
Like, it's not far-fetched to think that Ponyville has simply kept it's architecture the same for ascetic or tourism reasons.
Does it actually matter? Plus we already know that arcade games exist in Equestria. Button Mash is a canon character and we saw him play on one in the valentines day episode.

I cast the vote for yes. The time period that the ponies are in is not specific, and they do not seem to hold back on putting certain levels of technology in. And besides...your fictions are about ponies with fingers that walk on two legs. If ANYONE calls BS on the TV's, just smack them. Cause that would mean that they are OK with a human in the pony world, anthro ponies, and Pinkie having a split personality, but not with televisions. And that makes no sense.
