    Small Writing Thing

I participated in another group writing project. You can find it Over here.

I was feeling very cross at the government when I gave Rainbow a metal pipe. I actually love her here though.

    Clang.

    A thing to read

    Hi!

I commissioned a short fic from Monochromatic. You can read it over on Hollow Shades.

It’s rarity and rainbow and twilight being pals.

I'm strung out on caffeine and bacon.

Have some adventures I haven't pimped before:

Off the Edge of The Map FlutterDash adventure. Author claims it's shipping, but it's lighter than Merely a Mare. I honestly don't see it as shipping at all. YMMV. Dash and Fluttershy are flung to the far reaches of the world when Dash attempts a trick and something goes wrong. The two have a quintessential adventure as they make their way back to Equestria.

The Purloined Pony A choose your own adventure game/fic, staring you, Carrot Top. This was amazing then and it's still fun. If you haven't read/played it, you should.

For stories I have pimped before (I think?):

Within and Without Come for TwiLuna. Stay for mane six adventure, an interesting OC innkeeper, my OTP, and some fantastic interpretations of Celestia/Luna from before season 2. Warning: Luna ain't a little wispy, cuddly pone in this. She has issues and is kinda a jerk on occasion.

63rd Rune This actually started before Cross and Arrow, and has nothing to do with alternate dimensions. The mane six get gender bent and need to fix it. What's worse, they start to forget they were once mares.

:moustache: Have you ever eaten chocolate covered bacon?

140001

Suddenly; hunger. :pinkiehappy:

140001
140006
i cooked a pound of bacon this morning because the first 1/3rd is always crap and burnt. Then you have enough boiling grease to cook the rest correctly.

I have so much bacon left over. Sandwiches

Carrot Top staring at me? Cool.
Thanks for recommending stuff, the other ones you talked about were all great!

140008
Salty, greasy food = blood clots

Caffeine= high blood pressure and pulse rate

:moustache: :Heart Disease: ? 'Yup.

I guess it's time to say goodbye.
:pinkiesad2::heart::trixieshiftleft:

i am already ded

No seriously. I got around 4 hours of sleep and then had to get up because my son awoke and my wife is crazy tired on account of being 8 months pregnant. So If I read like I'm a retarded hamster batting at a keyboard, that's why. Despite a pot of coffee, I'll fall asleep as soon as I get the chance.

I started on the pilot and am now at sonic rainboom. So at least my morning is completely wasted.

140008

For some reason I am now thinking about Dash from 'Falling Stars'. That mare has a bacon fetish in that story. :rainbowlaugh: :rainbowderp: Oh, and I am starving after bacon! :ajbemused:

140032
>pony
>bacon
wat

i dont even

Like that slumber party thing. LOL DASH ORDERED MEAT!!
"All our diets, I should mention, are completely vegetarian."

sleep time

Off the Edge of the Map, its sort of sequel Apotheosis, and Within and Without are definitely favorites of mine (:heart:TwiLuna).

Thanks for these little posts by the way, I usually read all of your recommendations and it's time well spent :pinkiehappy:

140032 who's the author? or maybe a link?

140171

Falling Stars linkage It's a Battletech cross-over, a really good one in fact. So far it's managed to become one of my all-time favourite stories, (up there with Thesalonica Legacy and It Takes a Village) and not just because I grew up a huge Battletech/Mechwarrior junky. :rainbowdetermined2: It's really well written with some excellent characterization and fights. It is HiE and has obviously strong sci-fi elements given what is being crossed, so be aware of that if those stories aren't your cup of tea.

140186 AH!! that's the one I thought it was. that story has been in my read later list for a while. guess I should get to it:facehoof:

140001 I eat burritos with peanut butter, tobasco sauce, and fake maple syrup :duck:

Please tell me how you're such good friends with your body.

140158
Other way around honey. OTE is first.

140186
It takes a village is pretty damn good too

140352

Words, not my thing. I swear I knew that OTE was chronologically (both in story time and date written) first :twilightblush:

You and your recommendations, some of us have to-read lists ya know! :twilightangry2:
Ah well, time to add these to it. :pinkiecrazy:

"Come for TwiLuna. Stay for mane six adventure, an interesting OC innkeeper, my OTP, and some fantastic interpretations of Celestia/Luna from before season 2."

What's your OTP? My assumption was that it's TwiDash based on your latest fic. Also because it's mine and I have to project it onto others with my shipper goggles.

140545
Hehe. Nope.
:pinkiehappy::rainbowlaugh:

I've not written more on them because so many people do it better (Cloudy Skies) than I do. For List, I wrote to convince myself of TwiDash. I can't write to convince myself of PinkieDash because it's more like... a universal constant than a ship. I have a few fics planned where they're an item, but between Best Plan Ever and Where Your Heart Is, I do not need an origin story anymore.

Haven't read Purloined Pony. Read all the others though. OtEotM and WaW are 2 of my favorite fics, both far more for the adventure than the shipping.

140718
Yeah. The adventure is what makes those two. OtE barely registers as shipping to me. Were I really expecting it to be shipping, I'd be a little disappointed.

140721

OtE was basically designed to be the events that led to deeper feelings between the 2. It let us see the bonds developing without the payoff of the realization of a relationship. The last bit confirmed that they now knew they meant more to each other and that their relationship wouldn't be the same. It was friendshipping leading up to shipping without the romance. I think it was the first real friendshipping fic before the tag was invented. (I first saw the tag on The Light in the Darkness).

WW had real shipping, but I didn't like most of it other than PinkieDash.

140607
I have not read enough of that pairing. But PinkieDash has always struck me as an absolutely adorable couple and I really want to get into it more. I've always enjoyed opposites-attract pairs, and Pinkie Pie shipped with Rainbow Dash is beyond even that realm! I think, perhaps, the character dialogue and the potential for frankly ANYTHING to occur are it's strongest points.

Anyway, I'll check those fics out. In doing so, perhaps I'll be much better prepared for the fluff you write later.

You have good taste in Adventure fics though, Kits. Have you read ARiaR and MR from my fave box? You might like. The first is Slightly surreal super adorable friendshipping, the 2nd is just Dash being badass with Spitfire.

140747
Oh agreed on OtE. It actually deserves [friendshipping]. Too bad it used "light shipping" instead.

140748
Agreed. They have the largest range of things that can happen. They have the most character energy and the least restraint.

140754
Moonspire, I have! That was a real fun ride. I have trouble finding stuff not in fimfiction nowadays. Due to prereading, my docs account history is a steaming mass of failure. I continually forget to star fics I enjoy on that.
I haven't read ARiaR. Added to read later.

I almost posted Hypothermia of the Heart, despite some largish issues I have with it. I had fun reading that, half because of the story and half because of where I imagined it would go. I just remember some of the weird tone/mood whiplash and lines like "the sexual tension drained out of them."

140787
Yeah. I was all "why did telling have to bite you now?"

Off the Edge of the Map is one of my favorite stories (and was the first shipping fic I've read, although yes, it's lighter than a cloud). It was the one that restored my faith in fan fiction after reading my first fan fic, Cupcakes. It completely blew my mind how the author could work in an amazing adventure, a light love story, and awesome in-character relationship development, all in the one story. Of course, as a shipping story it dropped to second place in my top stories as soon as I read CloudySkies' Building Bridges.

And of course, Within and Without is completely amazing, one of the best stories I've ever read, and from my favorite author to boot!

141243
I remember pre-reading BB. I was floored that someone had done that so well. The bits with Twi's attachment to the feather are adorable.

My favorite fic, of Cloudy's and period, is Rainbow Dash's Best Plan Ever though. But yeah, Cloudy is my favorite author in the fandom.

140748
Well for pinkie dash fics, check out Donny's reccommended reads

I really need to check out Off the Edge. It involves dragons, right? I freaking love dragons. And there's no excuses for me not reading it, either; the story's only three chapters long, iirc.

Making steady progress on W&W/O. It's definitely a fic to be savored over a period of time instead of all at once, and for the most part, Cloudy paces weeks and weeks of travel quite effortlessly for one of his earlier stories.

And of course there's 63R. I'm glad I had a hand in helping Alex with some of the later chapters. It's a shame Cross and Arrow threw this story into the shadows -- it has some genuinely inspired moments in it. Take the search for the Cloudsdale artifact. The labyrinth section worked out so well for me.

141345
OTE has dragon stuff, yes. Not a huge amount, but a good section deals with it. Also, FlutterDash.

63rd feels far more like an adventure than X&-> does. There's that whole running out of time thing. Maybe "tense" or "frantic" is the right word, whatever it is, it's far less mystery and far more gottagofast.

Have read all except "The Purloined Pony." ADORE "Off the Edge of the Map" and "Within and Without" and wish desperately that I could write epic adventures such as those. Thought "63rd Rune" was a fun little romp, too, but wished the stakes had been higher to justify the sense of urgency and/or provide a better sense of urgency--say, have had the genderswap spell actually be harming or even slowly killing the ponies, in addition to just affecting their memories.

Thanks for the recommendations!

141270 Hah, I'll check em out, thanks for the link!
