Well then… · 4:25am May 18th, 2014

I planned on titling this “Part 5 and something completely different”, and posting the following two paragraphs only:

It’s saturday. Have a new chapter to A String Wedding and a new one-shot: Friday Night Twilight

Friday Night was written shortly after I watched the season four finale. I guess my brain’s way of processing that much Twilight-being-awesome was to write something that takes place after the season three finale. This one’s rated teen, primarily for Twilight being a little bit of a jerk, but also for a couple mentions of alcohol and the like.

That was before Friday Night garnered so many views, favorites, watches, and comments in the span of a few hours. It’s certainly not the biggest deal on this site (and neither am I), but it’s still wonderful to see something I wrote striking a chord with lots of people. I wrote that story late last saturday night and emailed it to my wife (who was already asleep). I figured she’d get a laugh out of it and that’d be that. Instead she told me it was really good and that I needed to get it posted.

I wasn’t so sure that was a good idea. I mean, Twilight doesn’t come off as the ideal house guest. Between that and the opinions she expresses on the MLP fandom in general I figured one of two things would happen.
1. The story would violate the ‘meta story’ rule and not be allowed on fimfiction at all
2. The story would squeak by the pre-readers only be eaten alive by other fan fiction authors who take offense to what Twilight says.

Neither one happened. A PM or two with a moderator confirmed that the story was okay to post, and then a bunch of you liked it. Just in case I didn’t send a comment your way: thanks for your interest in my stories! I’m glad you liked them, and there will be more.
