    Been gone a while

So, sorry it's been such a long wait for an update. Life is busy. Moving to Germany, military stuff, etc. I've been writing, but it's all been non-fanfic. I'm looking to finish the BG series someday, but I write because it's fun, and when I'm stressed I tend to do it less. Things are mellowing out though, so we'll see.

    Sort of Back

Hello, I've been out for a while.

I survived Air Force BMT, I have internet again, but I do not have a great deal of spare time. For the moment, I'm leaving Shadows on Hiatus until I can get moving on it again. I fully intend to continue it when I have the opportunity. I hope you're all looking forward to what's coming next as much as I am.

Shadows of the Crystal Empire Hiatus

So, a while back, I went and joined the Air Force.

I ship out on the 27th of May, and obviously, I won't be able to work on writing Fanfiction for a while. Sorry to leave you all on a cliffhanger, but that's how things turned out. Hopefully, I'll be able to get back to it once I'm settled in at technical training.

The variety of desk I'm going to be flying is the "Cryptolinguist" kind. First, I'll be going to Lackland AFB, Fort Worth Texas for the initiation ritual known as Basic Training. Eight and a Half weeks later, if all goes well, I will graduate and move on to Aircrew Fundamentals, still at Lackland, for the next four weeks. Then, I'll go to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey California and learn a language. I don't know what language they'll teach me, it depends on what the Air Force needs.

I've heard that the Defense Language Institute is a laid-back place. All the branches, and other Department of Defense people, like CIA and SOCOM are sent there for language training. I'll be working hard, probably harder than I've ever worked in my entire life, but I should have the free time to write occasionally.

Good luck in the Chair Force, dude!

If you happen to run into an officer by the name of Ry Ottulich, tell him "Minsc and Boo stand ready." You will have a new best friend, :raritywink:

Good luck! You'll love the DLI, and the Monterey peninsula is a great place.

Oh, I am jealous. So jealous. I actually tried the same thing, until circumstances arose.

Have fun.

NOOOO WE MUST SAVE PINKIE!!!

But really enjoy yourself. I am sure that basic will provide challenges but I think you will enjoy the language training (in the end anyway). Hope things go well and hope to see your writing again in the not so distant future.

I have a friend that went through that (or some other air-force based language program...)

He didn't seem to find it particularly hard (learned Chinese), though he's some sort of language savant. It did sound somewhat laid back, but it's still the military and you're still going to get yelled at a lot.

Arrrgg :raritydespair:

I hope you will do great !

Best of luck! I'll still be hoping you have time to write a little bit once things have settled down a little more. WE LOVE READING YOUR STUFF.

I love your story. So much in fact I spent the last two days reading it... and its sequel.... what I'm saying is I enjoy your work and eagerly await its continuation, but don't rush- take your time.

BMT has been graduated. I'm in Tech School now, but my time and internet access are somewhat limited. At least I got my Laptop. Can't wait to get to Monterey, Texas is way too hot.

Good luck!:pinkiehappy:
