Taming the Storm - Coming to terms (with more things than one) · 3:16am May 13th, 2014
Ok, so I'm making this blog about Taming the storm and future chapters.
So right away, here is your SPOILER ALERT and being ULTRA FRANK ALERT:
Ready? Good. Taming the storm is fully planned out with little blurbs for what I want to be in each chapter and there are going to be over a hundred chapters (in total). Yes, you read right, 100 chapters. And a lot of it will be about what happens after the romance starts (yes, I'll go ahead and say it. There will be Flutterdash. There, I said it.)
Why am I saying this you might ask? Because Bronco brought it to my/our attention that we are losing readers. Yes, we actually care about you guys He suggested that we are losing readers because the shipping that is promised with the romance tag and character tags and group placement isn't happening fast enough and that we are losing people's interest because of all this slice of life fluffy stuff.
What we would like to know is, is this true? Are you guys losing interest because it's a tenth of the way in and there's no development? Do you crave the shipping of ponies and cannot see/stand to see the build up (ok, maybe a bit long build up) to what promises to be a large, epic and glorious tale? If you do (no matter what greatness I could promise you), that's ok, we just want to know who's in it for what. It's not as nice/good to write a long detailed story if no one actually reads it.
So please please please comment below and let us know: are you losing interest in this story because of how long it is taking for the romance to actually start? Or is it because of some other reason? We will take these comments into consideration and try to make it more enjoyable for all involved.
I am in it for the long haul my friend! I simply adore the story so far. I admit, I was expecting the shipping to happen a bit sooner, but I have yet to really be disappointed with the story thus far. Keep on truckin my friend! While I cannot speak for anyone else, I can assure you I am not going anywhere!
It will most likely pick up as the story progresses, I wouldn't worry about that. A lot of people don't like reading large fics with no ending :P
2107485 Well, so far I actually haven't had a good track record of a 'fast shipping'. My second story, Party Animal and Bookworm, took 15 chapters for the shipping to start. Perfect Pitch was a little faster, took 10 chapters to get to the shipping, but still. Taming the storm also has four ponies to focus on instead of just two like each of the stories I've just mentioned, so it takes a bit for the buildup. Glad to (still) hear that you are in for the long haul and like how it's going.
2107646 Yeah, I don't like to read large stories with no ending either. I'm certainly not going anywhere, I just started to wonder where the readers were. Glad to hear from you and that you don't mind the length. I'll wait another day or so for hopefully more readers' comments but so far it's only been 'keep going with long'

Could even be things like work, getting to the end of year for the people 15-18 in the fandom and uni and shit. I'm having to do loads of work so I don't have time to read and I'd imagine that's the same for many others.
2107822 This is true. It all does pick up in summer time (or so I've seen before and done before)
2107822 Holy hell you don't even know! Plus Uni kids have finals soon too.
Ok Wolfie sounds like you were right! I had little faith... I'm glad people care more about the art than the thrill. It shows a lot about how the world is progressing.

2108511 Hehe honestly my job is easy, sit on my ass and play League of Legends and watch the money roll in x)
That said, I still have work to do. Only thing I do other than that without anyone else is FIMFiction. Can't go on FIMFiction a lot though simply due to the amount I have to play League...
Thing is when I'm on FIMFiction I either wanna read a completed huge fic or a shorter kinda... 30000-50000 word one, not a half completed huge fic or whatever because I just don't have the time to go reading everything :P
2108511 ha I knew I was right.
back to business as usual.

2108881 I actually only just heard about people playing professionally. Seems like an awesome job, but I'd have to give up writing (which really wouldn't work at all). Glad to hear you get to read ever so often at least.
2108511 It's ok, you were just trying to make sure the story was going to be ok with readers and whatnot. And I do like to hear from the readers (who seem to just really like the story, which is always nice to hear) so this does help anyways.
2108885 Now now, let's not brag too much. Even if proven to be correct.
2108905 Hehe, it's why I have to stay anon on FIMFiction. If I accidentally showed this I'm sure there would be a localized shitstorm in the vicinity of my channel x)
I actually read at night using a hacked psp so I don't need to bring my laptop upstairs :D much better than a phone imo, the text size defaults to perfect size on it and it's tall enough with the case to balance under the sheets so I can still stay in the bed and the Opera browser hacked onto it is actually really good so everything is perfeeeeeeeeeect :D
All I have to do is press the down button and it's good to go, the joys of a £20 hacked psp x) hell, the memory stick is worth more than the device
2108908 Lol, well, you have it all figured out and made. I once had a hacked PSP, but I realized I didn't use it for much anyways. Glad to hear you manage to work everything just right and balanced, means I get another reader
2108995 hehe ^^ my hacked psp is my "i cba to get up and want to go on 4chan or fimfic" device.
Over 2000 people on fimfic atm which is interesting actually
Not sure how accurate that thing is mind considering lots of people download stories or dc in-between chapters etc...
2109226 Wait, your a pro Leauge player? Shit dude thats awesome. Any chance I've heard of you?

worry not about the present readers, but the future readers like me. The readers who click on a random user, click their favorites, then go story scouting.
In short (see story for long rant), I would like to see more of the chapters.
