Babscon: How Things Went · 6:28pm Apr 22nd, 2014

Alright guys, so, I just got back from Babscon... Holy crap. I knew it was gonna be pretty damn cool when DuskyKatt walked up to me in the first five minutes of arrival and told me I had a pretty awesome Rainbow Dash hat X3 Manliest brony likes my fashion sense apparently. Anyway, there were some hiccups along the way. Registration was really quick and simple, although they should really work on their positioning of people, because some of the areas weren't... Um... Weren't always being supervised by a staff member. Especially the game room. *Shudders*

Anyway, so the first day was great. Opening ceremonies were super tight, and they had their adorable con-theme play, which I really honestly loved and thought was pretty clever. It's on youtube if you search Babscon, though the animated version is not there. Anyway, awesome. Nowacking and EllieMontie did a parody duet of love is an open door. And the entire first day, I got to hang out with Regidar, Pascal, and Don'twannaknow.

The second day was fun too. Went to some cool panels. And then I got a text from one of my fanfic writer buds callin me for a meetup. Guess what? I got to spend the entire day chilling with the likes of totallynotabrony, Pen Stroke, Horizon, Law Abiding Pony, Ebon Mane, xjuggernaughtx (The x's are silent yo.) and several other writers that are clearly superior in skill and talent to myself.

Evening of the second day? I saw a dude drunk off his ass crash face first into a wall and totally eat shit. It was totally hilarious and I wish I'd had the foresight to record it, even though it would've been kind of mean.

Third day was our panel. Stopped by taco bell and got some breakfast. Went to the panel which was really fun and went surprisingly smoothly. I was honestly super nervous. I feel kinda bad, because I talked a lot, and ocalhoun and totallynotabrony barely got a word... I tried to be insightful and helpful and stuff, but I don't know how well that worked. You know me and not knowing anything about anything. Anyway, that'll be up in a few days, once I've finished uploading it to youtube and all that jazz. I'll post it in a separate blog. And then it was over. I was honestly a little sad. I never thought I'd be able to go to a brony convention, and I'm so grateful one just happened to open up near me... I made a lot of new contacts, and some memories I'll never forget. Despite the flaws, that was one of the most awesome weekends I've had in a long time. The weekend was a success, and if I can, I'll definitely be back next year.

Thank you for sharing the experience.

What were the faws? :unsuresweetie:

They had mic troubles and some pretty bad scheduling issues. Like really bad mic trouble. Dead microphones everywhere X3

Finally, someone who remembers! I'm going to buy you a drink next time I see you.

And yes, if I learned anything from this con, it was to have corded mics at all times. It also would have been nice to have more interesting stuff available for panels on Sunday.

Does the name Babscon mean anything in particular?

If only I had the money to go to any pony con.. But it costs way too much to fly from Sweden to the U.S :facehoof:

2035303 I think almost all of them are just way too much money for what they really are. No offense or anything

2035314 Probably, yeah, but I just want to get the chance to meet more Bronies :twilightsheepish: They seem to be really rare over here.. No real get-togethers or cons over here either

Mark my words; one of these days, I'm going to attend a convention. As soon as I stop being broke, that is. :facehoof:

(That feel when surrounded by obviously superior writers, tho.)

2035416
That'd be super awesome. Maybe we can make some cost splitting plans if we end up attending the same one!

2035317 Well then, I can imagine your wanting to go to them. It's just...I don't know. When you speak of 'rare', that's kind of what I want, in terms of a whole bunch of things. XD
Cuz obviously, if there was only on con a year in America (cheezus knows how many there are here :/) THEN maybe I'd consider going to it if it was cheap enough.

2035460 Not to mention that it would be nice to meet someone who doesn't point fingers and laugh at me for being a Brony :twilightsheepish:

You know what, do Sweden a favor and send half of those cons over to us instead :rainbowlaugh:

Oh, and thank you for following me as well

2035476 No problem! And I'd be happy to send them over your way. But alas, I don't have that power [for now] XD

2035268 Thank you for the feedback.

Sounds pretty sweet, mate. Glad you had fun!

2035536 Thanks you for clarifying that for me. :D

Wait, sooo... which one are you?

I just love Pen Stoke' s face in that picture.:rainbowkiss:

2035314 I say that the experience is worth what you make of it. If you don't know how to take advantage of the con then it's likely that it might be not worth the trouble let alone the money.
However If you work hard to make it the best experience that it could be, then that experience might be worth easily over ten times the pains it costed like in my case.:twilightblush:

2035416 And mark my words one day I will make it to Bronycon!

... when I can afford that,:fluttershyouch: it won't be this year.:fluttercry:

Also about the being surrounded by superior writers feel, it was kind of overwhelming at first; but I soon came to realize that all this worshiped online entities are just normal people, this did not lower my admiration for them it just enlighten me to the fact that anyone could be in their place if they just put some work and have a little bit of luck.

It really broadened my perspective of how I perceive other users, and made me gather the faith that I could one day maybe make a name for myself, he he.:twilightblush: .

2035285 Yeah Pen Stroke decided to leave right after the second VA panel for that exact reason, he just wasn't interested in anything else. dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/Emoticons/shrug_Twilight_Sparkle.png
