Jaydex, I just found the BEST QUOTE. The humans need to apply this somewhere in the stories to the ponies... Note the section in bold:

The horse needs to know that you are fully with him in the present without intellectualizing or reasoning or thinking, just being in his space and his time. Let him lie down and roll if he wants, let him wander and smell everything, let him graze and you do what you enjoy doing.

Mind what Daniel tells her about how humans treat animals in general, in particular leather, battery hens and puppy mills. There's other nasty stuff there that would make Celestia steaming mad. And we know the One Rule.
