The Recent Episode (spoilers)

I was rather intrigued by Rainbow Dash's interest in being a griffin or dragon. Not to mention both are predators as well. So, what does this have to do with FtH? Total legitimization of RD wanting to chow down on some good ol red meat! Makes me think about reevaluating what kind of cure she'll end up wanting, if one at all...

I still think she'd want to be turned back. It's one thing to willingly have a spell cast on you and be turned into a different species for a little while. It's another to be robbed of it and lose it permanently. You're right about her being willing to experience things from a changelings perspective though.

It means that now she'll want to become a full changeling so she can transform into a griffon.

The funny thing is, I've always kind of pictured Dash as a bit more on the xenophillic side. Not in the sexual sense, exactly, but it seemed like she was the most likely of the main six to be interested in non-pony species. Her best friend in flight camp was a griffin, and she made fast friends with Little Strongheart (Once she got over the whole initial rivalry thing).

Kind of shallow causes on their own, but it opened up the possibility in my mind... so the moment she asked that question: "I was right!"

As for in the story... I could see it go either way. That spell would have almost certainly been a temporary thing, and there is a pretty big difference between temporarily trying out what it's like to be another species, and being permanently changed. At the same time... being a changeling means she could change any time she wants. So... decisions.

In any case, I thought her reaction seemed quite in-character, and this episode made it even more so.

One thing I do have to say about that line: When I heard that Rainbow Dash wanted to be a griffon, I immediately though of Gilda! Coincidence or intentional reference? Or is it because I just want Gilda to appear again on the show…
