Where do you want to go on FIMfiction? · 9:54pm Jan 31st, 2014

Do you have big plans for yourself? Be the next Regidar or shortskirtsandexplosions? Push your way through the crowds of very bad-OC covered newbies and own this site with your epic writing? Write stories so sad they'd make dragons cry, or write things so funny they'd make Fluttershy "rofl"?

Do you want to constantly improve, and always be a little better than you were yesterday? Obtain thousands of followers and have so many people to look up to you and anxiously wait for the next brilliant thing to come out of your mind? Do you want to be the guy/girl who always writes, has ninety-eight stories with no less than one hundred likes each? Do you want all of the greats to smile down on you and have the best writers knock on your door for an autograph, maybe?

While we're fantasizing, what other seemingly impossible things do you want? Or do you have more realistic goals? Is your motto "shoot for the stars, but don't be surprised when you barely make it to the moon"? Do you doubt that you can do it. That you can even write one story? That you can even get ten likes? That you can get a follower, or have a single person waiting for your updates when they may come.

Perhaps that isn't very often. Perhaps you can't focus on your writing, and truth be told, you're not even sure you actually want to be a writer. You're not even sure if you want to waste your time writing fanfiction. The whole idea is quite silly, after all. Ponies with magical horns and wings and dragons and phoenixes and cool not really real stuff. Maybe that doesn't matter at all.

But you enjoy it, don't you? You like what people say when they actually take the time to look at what you create, and you like when you can make someone laugh, or even shed a tear once in a while. You like when people like what you make, even if writing is hard and you can't stay focused and you know more than anything that you, you cannot do this. You like the nice things people say, though. The genuine things. The few likes you have on the story you put soooo much work into. You like the like.

Maybe if you knew, you had absolutely no doubts that you were going to be one of the best writers or the best at whatever you try at, maybe then you would try a little harder. You already know you're going there, so why not go there and be the best that you can be? That is you, after all. You're the one they look up to and want to be like, why don't you be that person that you are?

But... you don't know if you're going anywhere. Not really. You're probably pretty sure that in the long run, this crap was just a waste of time that could have been spent doing more fun things. You will never ever go anywhere with this thing, and you have convinced yourself of this.

And, you never will. You're not going anywhere, ever. Not if you don't try.

But maybe if you do try... maybe things will happen. Maybe stuff will get better and while you will know you're not the best because you're definitely still you, you'll know that you're better than you were.

Try, people. Give it a try, and see where you go. I want to see you go far.

Shoot for the stars, and don't you dare stop when you reach them.
