Ponycon AU! Also: Star Wars? · 11:33am Jan 30th, 2014
Haven't thrown something up in a while, so here's a post! Justice Itself Chapter 27 is going quite well, and I indeed to get more done over the next few days. Largely because, as the title says, I'm going to one of the few Australian brony conventions, PonyCon AU / Marebourne up in Melbourne, flying up from Tasmania in like...twelve hours or so. So hopefully the influx of pony while there on the weekend will provide a boost to chapter 27. Quite a good chapter it is shaping up to be, if I do say so myself.
Other note was, how many people who follow me know Star Wars? Well, not know. Everyone knows Star Wars, and if you don't I'm going to pretend you do, but who likes Star Wars? I've currently got two ideas for Star Wars crossovers I'm going to work on eventually after Justice Itself is done, and I'm just curious who would be interested in it. One involves pony, the other more serious and human(oid)ised.

I love star wars, so I'd be interested in that :). Also, can I just say I was pretty disappointed not to see your name in the recent how-to-write-crossovers post? Justice Itself may very well be the best crossover fic out there.
1774525 Ah, you flatter me! So very much. There are far better crossovers, with fewer typos and with better writing in general. I mean, my ability to do the mane 6 reacting to Paladin/Tyrael reveal has plagued me, and that's just one problem. Still, thank you for saying so.
1774522 It might be a while, but I hope I can. It's going to be a bit EU heavy, but not so much that things aren't obvious to those who lack a solid grounding in the Expanded Universe.
First, have a blast at the con. Seriously, second, have a better blast with the con.
But as for the Star wars, are you talking old republic, fall of the republic EU, 1-9 range, the vong wars. Post vong war? And both actually sound fine, you've done human just fine, so anthro would be the same boat easily.
1774547 The story starts just before Thrawn begins his campaign. Dealing with that is why the New Republic / Luke Skywalker are never feasible people to go to for help, Human(oid)ised more refers to being races other than just human. Zabrak, Zeltron, Thyleen (if I remember the name right, keep forgetting), and many others, as I'm not going to be shy in using species mostly seen in the EU, rather than anthro. Just can't say 'humanised' because, well, not all human, are they?
Of course, if I was being strict about it Bloodlines wouldn't be just humanised either....
1774577 Thrawn, oh thrawn, you are the rommel of the star wars setting, such potential, and stuck with so much crap. And yes, there's a ton of near humans in the EU, thyrsians are what you are looking for? or was it an fhy something? But anywho, yeah. So are you looking at this more from the way of magic being a kind of intrinsic force use, akin to what some have done in its neither tied to the light or dark, but exists within the force? Still, at least, hopefully avoiding the nastiness that is sith alchemy? Of course, there are plenty of things that you can put in the emperor's storehouse/storehouses that one might find.. let alone the war that follows it.
1774592 Magic will only come up in the less serious one, which is the result of a skype conversation about Wraith Squadron, and a particular exchange wherein Wes Janson told Wedge Antilles that the next pilot they were going to interview was an Ewok, as a joke. Except in this less than serious fic, the next pilot is a pony, Rainbow Dash, who replaces the canonical 'horse pilot' (Runt, who was 6' and looked like an anthro draft horse), and various moments through the Wraith Squadron novels that are changed by her presence.
The other one, more serious and humanoidised, it's a placement of the Mane 6 and co within the Star Wars setting as natives, and so the question of where pony magic fits won't need to be addressed.

One of the Mane 6 will be Zeltron. Go on, three guesses, first two don't count.
1774610 Oh my.. heh, but could be very fun, on the first and second respectively. I know the english is likely a tad slanted, but such is it when sleeps a hairs breath away. But interesting premise for all these. And heh, shame for this time frame. Such isn't that likely to find too many fosh about in the galaxy at large.
I have seen all 6 movies at least twice and the original two seasons of star wars the clone wars (the much older one) and the newest ones as well.

1776011 Well, when I finally get to it or them, you should enjoy it. I'll throw in plenty of stuff from various sources, from the Han Solo trilogy to the X-Wing Series, especially Aaron Allstone's Wraith Squadron books.
