    News and Information

    Hello guys,

I am not Weeping Angel sadly, I am the user Sky Dance

This account has had a heck of a ride since Weeping Angel left, with it being banned and all, but I'm hoping that this is the last time a blog about this will be made.

Now, since this is Weeping Angel's account, I am going to try and include her as much as possible.

    Please Read

Dear friends and followers of Weeping Angel,

I hate to inform you that Angel has been banned by her parents. This is because of her not telling her parents about FimFiction and also due to religious reasons. Please don't cause an uproar about this-- what's done is done, and you can still contact her through her deviantArt, which is linked down at the bottom of the blog.

My Anger Is Never-Ending · 2:16am Jan 24th, 2014

Okay so I was writing today for 45 MINUTES STRAIGHT and I was so happy that I finally did a good job at the plot for one of my stories and so my parents tell me to practice the piano and when I go to save the freaking document I misunderstood what it said and PRESSED NO. I WROTE FOR A TOTAL OF 45 MINUTES WITH THIS AMAZING PLOT AND I WAS SO PROUD OF MYSELF THAT I WOULDN'T ACTUALLY SUCK FOR ONCE AND I PRESSED NO.

WHAT.
THE.
BUCK.
IS.
WRONG.
WITH.
ME.

AND NOW I'M GIVING UP ON WRITING BECAUSE I FORGOT ALL OF MY IDEAS.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

ReptileLover.exe is not available at this time. Please try again later.

EDIT: Oh! And, I finished the amazing book I was reading for three days. You may think, "hey! Isn't that good?" NO. IT'S TERRIBLE.

You might want to invest in a text editor that has better autosave. And one that makes you go out of your way to delete things vs. the other way around.

Might I recommend google docs as a free alternative. :twilightblush:

¡That is terrible!

Since humans are error-prone, computer-programmers should do a better job at making it easier to revert mistakes. This is how I would do it:

My perfect TextEditor:

* It would by default use plain text in UTF8 until one makes the text fancy, at which point, it would use OpenDocumentText (ODT).
* When first run, it would create a scratch-file. It would autosave to that file every minute. If the user has multiple unnamed documents, it would create multiple scratchfiles.
* If the user decides not to save, the TextEditor would blank the scratchfile.
* The TextEditor would have infinite undo, so that if the next time one opens the TextEditor, one wants to recover a previous version, one can undo the blank document to any of its previous states.
* When one names an unnamed document, the TextEditor would remame the scratchfile to the new name. thus preserving its undo-history.
* If one tries to create a new unnamed document after naming an unnamed document, the TextEditor creates a new blank scratchfile.

This does create security-concerns, but that is why we have secure delete. When sharing documents, one should have the option to strip its UnDoFork with the default being to remove it.

SirRage recommends GoogleDocs as it is harder to accidentally delete files there. It is a good solution and also allows for collaboration and saves everything in ODT (OpenDocumentText).

Yeah, I started to use Google Docs but I switched back to Word, mainly because I'm used to it.

I know right? I was crying when that happened, mostly out of rage.

1752075
That would be amazing. I would buy that in a heartbeat! And I will try to use GDocs more.

Just wondering, your running Windows mostly right?

1753418
Yeah, I have a Windows 8 computer. I don't have Apple or any of that. Why do you ask?

1753818
Jus wondering. I write software for OSX/iOS so I'm always interested to hear what people are using. I use to write Windows applications but it's been a few years. Nothing really against the platform, it's just I haven't used Windows on a regular bases sense Windows XP (also working at Apple for a few years has probably skewed my judgment).

1753854
Cool! OSX is Android, right? I don't really know, I use iPhones and such:derpytongue2:

Is it your job, or do you do it as a hobby? I've always wanted to do something computer related:coolphoto:

1753906
OSX is MacOS, I primarily use Macs these days.

Software development is both a job and a passion. I have done it for money for many years but a few months ago I decided to do something different. Rather than work for someone else and make the products they want, I decided to work for my self and make the products I wanted.

We'll see how things pan out but it's a lot of fun. It's like every day is a Saturday.

It's good you like computers. I always found it fascinating that I could tell a computer to do something, and have it do it. It was that fascination that lead me down the path of being a software developer.

If you ever have questions about software development feel free to ask.

1753939
Heh, thanks:pinkiehappy:

That's so cool! I've always wanted a job that I could think it was Saturday when in reality it's like a Monday or Wednesday.

1755253
Ugh...yeah. Ever have that feeling like you were punched in the gut and your pet just died? (Okay maybe a bit of an overstatement) but anyway that's how I felt...:fluttercry:

1755279

Okay I've been punched in the gut before so I know the pain.
All of my stories save, but they never make it online because all of my stories but one is cancelled, and it would never get on here because it would count as a trollfic.
And it doesn't have ponies until, like, 500 words. :raritydespair:

1755289
Hahaha I doubt it's THAT bad. You should try posting it sometime, I'd read it:derpytongue2::pinkiehappy:

1755295
You'd read a acid fic that has a 6,000 word slightly darker sequel? :pinkiecrazy:

2041391
Yes, yes I would.:pinkiecrazy:
I have a dark mind.

2041517

I'm actually working on publishing the first one now. Just have to get rid of all of the 1 space breaks between sentences. :trixieshiftleft:
So look out for that! :pinkiehappy:

(Warning: May make you think what the hell is going on. :pinkiecrazy:)

2045034
Awesome! I'll go check it out. :pinkiecrazy:
