    Ten Years of Doctor Perseus

Today marks the tenth anniversary of me creating my account here on FIMFiction. It feels incredibly surreal to type that out. Sometimes it almost feels like yesterday when I was a bright-eyed Brony entering the world of MLP fanfiction for the first time. And sometimes it feels like another lifetime ago.

10 Years After My First Fanfic/My Thoughts on Recent MLP & Doctor Who Content

Hello, everybody! It has certainly been a minute since my last blog post. Like I have said in the past, I am not on here as often as I used to be but I certainly try my best to check on my account whenever I can. In all honesty, I was planning on waiting to write out a blog like this until the tenth anniversary of my FIMFiction account. While I still plan on doing that, I was inspired to write

The 10th Anniversary of Friendship is Magic's Premiere

I know I'm not as active here as I used to be but I felt that I had to at least make a little comment here about Friendship is Magic officially beginning its journey into ten-year status. I can't believe it's been ten years since Friendship is Magic started. Heck, I can't believe it's already been a year since the series ended. Does make me wish that we could have gotten a tenth season in order

What Could Have Been: Doctor Whooves Seasons 3&4

Told ya the wait wouldn't be long. Anyway, here I am to FINALLY close the book on Doctor Whooves once and for all by laying out the rest of what I had planned out for Doctor Whooves. Unlike with Season 2, I'm just going to keep my plans for Seasons 3 and 4 in one blog as I hadn't planned everything out in as much detail as I did the arcs of Season 2. But, still, there is plenty of content to

What Could Have Been: Doctor Whooves Season 2, Arc 3

Yeah...sorry for the long wait on this one. I really have no excuse for taking this long to get around to finally uploading the rest of my plans for what I originally had in store for my Doctor Whooves fanfic series. But I'm here now, for those of you who are still interested in learning about the future I originally had planned for a series I ended well over two years ago. Better being SUPER

Ask Me Anything Answers · 10:13pm Jan 19th, 2014

It's been a week so here are my answers to the questions I received for my AMA (Ask Me Anything) post!

comicfan616:

Doctor Who or My Little Pony, which came first?

I became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic nearly a full year before I became a fan of Doctor Who.

Alicorn of Chaos:

1. What's your favorite quote from each Doctor's era, Doesn't have to be said by the Doctor himself, just a quote from each Doctor's era.

My favorite Doctor Who quotes tend to come from the Doctor himself so all of my favorite quotes from each era come from the Doctor.
The First Doctor's Era:

"One day, I shall come back. Yes, I shall come back. Until then, there must be no regrets, no tears, no anxieties. Just go forward in all your beliefs and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mine."

-The First Doctor, The Dalek Invasion of Earth
The Second Doctor's Era:

"You'll find there's so much else to think about. To remember. Our lives are different to anybody else's. That's the exciting thing, that nobody in the universe can do what we're doing."

-The Second Doctor, The Tomb of the Cybermen
The Third Doctor's Era:

"A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."

-The Third Doctor, The Time Warrior
The Fourth Doctor's Era:

"There's no point being grown-up if you can't be childish sometimes."

-The Fourth Doctor, Robot
The Fifth Doctor's Era:

"For some people, small, beautiful events are what life is all about!"

-The Fifth Doctor, Earthshock
The Sixth Doctor's Era:

In all my travelling throughout the universe, I have battled against evil, against power-mad conspirators. I should have stayed here. The oldest civilization: decadent, degenerate, and rotten to the core. Power-mad conspirators, Daleks, Sontarans, Cybermen - they're still in the nursery compared to us. Ten million years of absolute power. That's what it takes to be really corrupt.

-The Sixth Doctor, The Ultimate Foe
The Seventh Doctor's Era:

"Every great decision creates ripples. Like a huge boulder dropping in a lake. The ripples merge and rebound off the banks in unforseeable ways. The heavier the decision, the larger the waves, the more uncertain the consequences."

-The Seventh Doctor, Remembrance of the Daleks
The Eighth Doctor's Era:

"Charley, C'rizz, Lucie, Tamsin, Molly: Friends, companions I've known, I salute you."

-The Eighth Doctor, The Night of the Doctor (I know this came from a 2013 minisode but it still counts as his era IMO!)
The War Doctor's Era:

"Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame."

-The War Doctor, The Day of the Doctor (Come on, I couldn't leave out John Hurt!)
The Ninth Doctor's Era:

"Every now and then, a little victim's spared. Because she smiled, because he's got freckles, because they begged. And that's how you live with yourself. That's how you slaughter millions. Because once in a while, on a whim, if the wind's in the right direction, you happen to be kind."

-The Ninth Doctor, Boom Town
The Tenth Doctor's Era:

"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but, actually, from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, it's more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly... timey-wimey... stuff."

-The Tenth Doctor, Blink
The Eleventh Doctor's Era:

"We all change. When you think about it, we're all different people all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me."

-The Eleventh Doctor, The Time of the Doctor
The Twelfth Doctor's Era:

"Kidneys! I've got new kidneys! I don't like the color."

-The Twelfth Doctor, The Time of the Doctor (I know his era's barely started but might as well include him)

2. Is dandelion an instrument? (Had to put this here, just for some random comedic relief).

Maybe. But maybe the real question is whether an instrument is a dandelion? (I don't know where I was going with this)

3. I've already asked about your favorite quote from each Doctor's era... so here's a tougher one. What is your favorite Doctor Who quote of all time?

I have to go with my favorite quote from the Eleventh Doctor's era:

"We all change. When you think about it, we're all different people all through our lives, and that's okay, that's good, you gotta keep moving, so long as you remember all people that you used to be. I will not forget one line of this. Not one day. I swear. I will always remember when the Doctor was me."

It was just such a fitting collection of last words for the Eleventh Doctor that captures a somber yet positive outlook on regeneration. It's sad that the current Doctor is leaving but he's lived a good life and now it's time for the life of the next Doctor to begin.

4. What got you into Friendship is Magic and Doctor Who to begin with, and when did you get the idea the make a Doctor Whooves series.

I first heard about MLP: FiM during a vlog made by a reviewer I follow, the Nostalgic Nutcase (now known as the Cinematic/Brony Nutcase), when he mentioned himself being a Brony. I then remember him showing a clip from the show, which was the scene from Suited for Success when Fluttershy suggested panicking in response to Rarity's emotional breakdown, and I decided to check the show out. The first episodes of the show I saw were The Best Night Ever and Party of One and I soon watched my way through the whole first season, thus becoming a fan.
I became a fan of Doctor Who about a little less than a year later. I had come across the Doctor Whooves meme a couple times but didn't really understand it as I wasn't a fan of DW at the time. I checked out a video by Eli "The Cartoon Hero" Stone where he talked about the Doctor Whooves fanfics Number 12 and Traveler. Interested, I checked them out and really enjoyed them despite not being a Whovian at the time. This ultimately inspired me to check out the show. I found an episode archive online for New Who and watched my way through all of the seasons within a month or so, thus becoming a fan of that.
It was ultimately those two first Doctor Whooves fanfics I read that inspired me to start writing my own Doctor Whooves series (once I made my way through all of the DW episodes, that is). I got started and the rest is history.

5. What are your favorite memes, please list them in alphabetical order just for the heck of it.

Chef Ramsay

Conspiracy Keanu

First World Problems

The Troll

Very Demotivational Posters

6. Do you play any MMO's?

Not really. Most of my gaming experience is console and single player PC oriented. I've only played World of Warcraft and Minecraft once each (does Minecraft count as an MMO?).

7. If you had to be locked in a closet for a week with the pony of your choice, and you were allowed to have ONE item with you, what would that item be, and which pony would be there with you.

I'd probably choose Pinkie Pie and a laptop with working internet access so I could show her the randomness of the internet and share many laughs with her. Heh...I'd possibly even force her to read Cupcakes (I'm so evil sometimes).

8. Allow me to give you a scenario: You and a small team of scientists have managed to build the worlds first faster than light space ship, with enough room and life support systems to house and sustain you along with seven others for at least 60 years, excluding stops for supplies of course, you and seven friends are using the ship to go into space and explore the galaxy, you're first stop is Alpha Centauri, what would you do first when you arrived?

That's quite a detailed scenario. I'd probably start things off with a group picture and then we'd all just start exploring.

SEGASister:

SHIPPING TIME!
Doctor and Derpy or Doctor and Twilight?
Or Doctor and someone else in general?

I can't decide between Doctor x Derpy or Doctor x Twilight. Both relationships are really fitting and enjoyable in their own ways. Doctor x Derpy is cute while Doctor x Twilight is adorkable. DON'T MAKE ME CHOOSE!

One True Pairing?

Ugh! There's too many pairings to choose from in the MLP fandom! Everypony has been shipped with everypony by this point! I don't really have an OTP as many of the fandom pairings can work for me. However, I can say what characters I will never ship: family members. Incest...just...no. The only pairing I've come across that's kinda incestuous that didn't gross me out is Apple Bloom x Babs Seed and that was only because it was executed well in the story Tangled Roots. Other than that just...no. No incest.

Also, favorite show/franchise? {You can't say Doctor Who or My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic}

Harry Potter for favorite franchise and Avatar: The Last Airbender for favorite show other than DW and MLP.

Sollace:

1. If you had to choose between going to Equestria and going on an action packed adventure with the Doctor himself to anywhere/anywhen except to Equestria. Which would you choose?

As much as I'd love to go to Equestria and befriend the Mane 6, I have to go with an adventure with the Doctor. I mean, a trip to anywhere and anywhen in the universe?! How could I pass that up?!

2. If you were to choose one of the mane six to become a timelord. Which one would it be?

Twilight. She seems the most qualified out of the six to become a Time Lord...or would it be Time Lady...or Time Mare? Although, I'm also curious to see what would happen if Pinkie Pie became a Time Lord...Time Lady...Time Mare...whatever.

3. What rooms do you know of that can be found in the TARDIS?

Let's see...a control room, a kitchen, a library, an olympic swimming pool, an engine room, a wardrobe, some spare bedrooms, the Doctor's bedroom, the Eye of Harmony room, an observatory, a cupboard room, the machine that makes machines room, and...that's all I can think of right now.

MariusIoannesP:

1. Who is your favorite and least favorite character from MLP?

My favorite character would probably have to be Twilight Sparkle, because I'm a bookworm like her and I share a few traits with her (as well as with Fluttershy), and my least favorite would definitely be Diamond Tiara for pretty obvious reasons.

2. What is your favorite and least favorite episode of MLP, including Season 4 so far?

My favorite episode is Party of One and my least favorite is The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well.

3. Who is your favorite and least favorite character from Doctor Who? Doctors can be included.

Hmm...that's a real tough one as there's so many characters to go over. My favorite Doctor is the Tenth and my least favorite is the First (they're all still awesome though). I guess I could go over companions too (this is going to be from New Who as I don't have a whole bunch of experience watching Classic Who). My favorite is Donna and my least favorite is Rose (but I still like her). There aren't any DW characters that I hate.

4. What is your favorite and least favorite episode of Doctor Who?

My favorite episode is The Day of the Doctor and my least favorite episode is Love & Monsters. Seriously, aside from me kinda liking Shirley Henderson in it (who also played Moaning Myrtle from Harry Potter), everything about that episode is a mess. It doesn't help that the opening showed the Doctor and Rose partaking in a bad Scooby Doo parody (I know they were trying to show what an outsider's POV of an adventure with the Doctor looks like but it still looked stupid) and the ending basically had Shirley Henderson's character reduced to a face on a slab on concrete whose main purpose now is to give her boyfriend blow jobs. Seriously, WTF?!

5. Which Doctor are you most like?

Although Ten is my favorite, I'd probably say that I'm more like the 5th, though I'm not quite as dashing as him.

6. Who is your all-time favorite character of any series? Who is your all-time least favorite character?

That's a really tough one. There's loads of characters that I love and hate. I guess I have to say that my favorite character is the Doctor simply due to how he changes throughout the course of the series and that his future has loads of potential in relation to who he can become. My least favorite character? Hmm...I guess have to go with Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter. What a b!tch.

7, What's your favorite non-pony story or series? If it's Harry Potter, what's your other favorite?

Heh, you caught me. I freaking love Harry Potter. I guess my next favorite would have to be The Chronicles of Narnia.

8. Have you ever watched Grimm? Would you consider watching it? It seems right up your alley.

I've seen the pilot but haven't continued with it. It's certainly interesting and I did enjoy the pilot. Who knows? I might continue with it one day. But I recently got into Gravity Falls and Adventure Time so it may take me a while to get back to Grimm.

9. How did you conceive the idea that your Doctor Whooves would also crossover with other notable MLP fanfictions, a Pony Ask Tumblr, creepypastas, and apparently other series we both happen to like?

The ideas just sort of came to me randomly as I planned out and wrote my series. I wanted to cross over my Doctor Whooves series with various things I liked while also hopefully telling an interesting story that others could get into. I know The Rifts had plenty of references to things I liked but I also tried to tell an interesting story to go with that. Based on the feedback so far, I succeeded in that.

10. Given that in the Season 3 opener of Once Upon a Time Neal mentions that Disney movies exist in the Land Without Magic, is it possible that your story "Episode 14: Work of Fiction" takes place in that same world? If there are Disney movies there, why not MLP and Doctor Who. I imagine it didn't take place in our world because my guess is Edgar and his brother are as real as the characters on Once Upon a Time.

The "real world" in Work of Fiction is not in the same reality as the "real world" in Once Upon a Time. They're two separate universes.

11. Were "Episode 14: Work of Fiction" and "Episode 19: The Rifts" in particular influenced by Once Upon a Time since the central conceit of both is that works of fiction depict the reality of another world? Or are you just into that sort of thing to begin with?

I'm just into that to begin with. It's an interesting concept and it was certainly fun to execute it in The Rifts.

12. Any hints as to any other surprise crossovers we might see in Doctor Whooves?

You want hints huh? Hmm...okay. Here's your hints. Five words: Saeki, Raggedy, Silent, Creator, Clan.

13. What's your favorite MLP fanfiction and fanwork in general?

My favorite MLP fanfiction is My Little Dashie while my favorite fanwork is Turnabout Storm.

14. Are you at all familiar with MerlostheMad's Madverse series of crossover stories here on FIMFiction?

No but I'll probably go check them out now.

15. "Episode 19: The Rifts" included a scene from the film version of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. In your Doctor Whooves multiverse, do you conceive the Harry Potter film and books as separate universes?

Yes and no. I mean, yeah, some things happen differently in the movies than they do in the books but there could also be a reality where events from both the books and movies happened. There's a universe for the films, a universe for the books, a universe that's a combination of the two, and many more universes that are extended from that. There's an infinite number of possibilities when it comes to alternate realities after all...

The39Ponies:

Who is your least favorite Doctor?

As I stated earlier, the First Doctor. No disrespect to William Hartnell though. He gave a terrific performance as did all of the other actors who have portrayed the Doctor after him.

Did you ever watch the movies you were planning to watch (Asking about Catching Fire, Desolation of Smaug and 12 years a Slave)? What did you think about them?

I haven't gotten around to seeing 12 Years a Slave, Ender's Game, Thor: The Dark World, or Catching Fire yet. I did see the others though. I really enjoyed Insidious 2 and it was a very interesting and creepy sequel to the first. Carrie was also really good with great performances, a disturbing yet realistic look at bullying, and one of the most satisfying uses of slow motion I've seen in quite some time (it was used during the scene when the main bully got killed in her car); though, the ending was a bit quick. Saving Mr. Banks was really good and both Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks gave absolutely fantastic performances! And I really enjoyed The Desolation of Smaug. In fact, I liked it more than the previous Hobbit film.

Do you like Frozen?

I haven't seen it yet and haven't really had the urge to go out and see it. I've heard both good and bad things about it. I'll see it out of curiosity eventually.

What other shows are you planning to watch soon?

I just started watching Gravity Falls and Adventure Time. I'm planning on finishing the first season of Hannibal soon and I'm also about to begin looking into an anime called Future Diary.

Would you care for a Jelly Filly?

Certainly!

Did you miss me?

(link)
Sure. Haven't seen Sherlock so I'm not sure what that's referencing to. I might check that show out eventually.

Thank you for all of your questions! I hope I was able to provide satisfying answers. I certainly enjoyed answering your questions. Anyway...I guess that's it. Thank you again and have a nice day, everybody and everypony!

-The Eleventh Doctor, The Time of the Doctor

How did I know you were going to bring those up? Including the Twelve Doctor's first line was a bit of a surprise though.

I checked out a video by Eli "The Cartoon Hero" Stone where he talked about the Doctor Whooves fanfics Number 12 and Traveler. Interested, I checked them out and really enjoyed them despite not being a Whovian at the time.

That explains a lot. I've never read "Number 12" but I once heard an audio drama adaptation of it.

I can't decide between Doctor x Derpy or Doctor x Twilight.

Why do I have a feeling your Doctor Whooves series will end with that being unresolved? :twilightoops::derpytongue2: I still look forward to them potentially fighting each other.

The only pairing I've come across that's kinda incestuous that didn't gross me out is Apple Bloom x Babs Seed and that was only because it was executed well in the story Tangled Roots.

Ooh, you read "Tangled Roots". I love that story! :ajsmug:

… Avatar: The Last Airbender for favorite show other than DW and MLP.

Excellent choice. I just started watching that myself. About halfway through Season 1 so far.

My least favorite character? Hmm...I guess have to go with Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter.

Oh that's a good choice. She is awful. Sorry Professor Umbridge. I must never tell lies. :raritywink:

1736789
It was the 2013 version with Chloë Grace Moretz.

Haha, thanks for answering my questions!
And Sherlock is a very, very good show. You should check it out if you want to see Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman drunk in their prime form.

1737216
I've seen both the 2013 and 2002 versions but not the 1976 version. I should probably get around to seeing it at some point.

.. a wardrobe, ... an observatory, a cupboard room, ...

Those will make some very nice additions. Thank you. :twilightsheepish:

And I really enjoyed The Desolation of Smaug. In fact, I liked it more than the previous Hobbit film.

The films were nice but I still prefer the book. They really mangled the original story in the movies. Tons of stuff got skimmed over and Bilbos character was substantialy different half way through Desolation of Smaug.

Are you interested in seeing the Old Who because I've found that they show it on fox now. But I don't know if you have/like that channel. :twilightoops:

--Sollace

Well I really enjoyed the 2013 version and the 2002 version, while flawed, was still enjoyable. Remakes tend to get a bad reputation nowadays due to all the bad ones out there but there have been plenty of good remakes like 2013 Carrie and 2010 True Grit.

And by the way...it's TOM BAKER's BIRTHDAY! :rainbowderp::heart:
