    Ten Years of Doctor Perseus

Today marks the tenth anniversary of me creating my account here on FIMFiction. It feels incredibly surreal to type that out. Sometimes it almost feels like yesterday when I was a bright-eyed Brony entering the world of MLP fanfiction for the first time. And sometimes it feels like another lifetime ago.

10 Years After My First Fanfic/My Thoughts on Recent MLP & Doctor Who Content

Hello, everybody! It has certainly been a minute since my last blog post. Like I have said in the past, I am not on here as often as I used to be but I certainly try my best to check on my account whenever I can. In all honesty, I was planning on waiting to write out a blog like this until the tenth anniversary of my FIMFiction account. While I still plan on doing that, I was inspired to write

The 10th Anniversary of Friendship is Magic's Premiere

I know I'm not as active here as I used to be but I felt that I had to at least make a little comment here about Friendship is Magic officially beginning its journey into ten-year status. I can't believe it's been ten years since Friendship is Magic started. Heck, I can't believe it's already been a year since the series ended. Does make me wish that we could have gotten a tenth season in order

What Could Have Been: Doctor Whooves Seasons 3&4

Told ya the wait wouldn't be long. Anyway, here I am to FINALLY close the book on Doctor Whooves once and for all by laying out the rest of what I had planned out for Doctor Whooves. Unlike with Season 2, I'm just going to keep my plans for Seasons 3 and 4 in one blog as I hadn't planned everything out in as much detail as I did the arcs of Season 2. But, still, there is plenty of content to

What Could Have Been: Doctor Whooves Season 2, Arc 3

Yeah...sorry for the long wait on this one. I really have no excuse for taking this long to get around to finally uploading the rest of my plans for what I originally had in store for my Doctor Whooves fanfic series. But I'm here now, for those of you who are still interested in learning about the future I originally had planned for a series I ended well over two years ago. Better being SUPER

Ten Years of Doctor Perseus · 2:28pm Oct 21st, 2022

Today marks the tenth anniversary of me creating my account here on FIMFiction. It feels incredibly surreal to type that out. Sometimes it almost feels like yesterday when I was a bright-eyed Brony entering the world of MLP fanfiction for the first time. And sometimes it feels like another lifetime ago.

I don't recall what exactly brought me over to FIMFiction. But I do remember how instantly more appealing I found it compared to my origin spot of fanfiction.net. Of course I still made sure to update my stories over on fanfiction and fanfiction allows for a more diverse array of stories compared to the fittingly-MLP-focused stories of this site. But I remember instantly noticing just how much more of a community FIMFiction had compared to fanfiction.net. On that site, most of the interaction was relegated to reviews and a clunky PM system. Here, there were comment sections and blog posts. A whole new world of communication about fanfiction opened up here, as well as the freedom to discuss whatever the hell I wanted between story updates. Whether it was my thoughts on new episodes, ramblings about dumb internet drama, or just sharing art that I liked. There was an ever-present community to be found here and I always enjoyed reading and responding to the comments that I got.

Like what I said in my previous post, the height of my active time here wasn't as long as my brain often remembers it being. I believe it may be possible that my time away from writing fanfics may have already grown past the time I spent writing them. I do miss the heights of my time here. Writing new stories, interacting with all the comments and PMs that I got, writing blog posts in the interim. There was a nice little community I had formed here for myself within an even larger one. Heck, there was even a short-lived audio drama based on my Doctor Whooves series. Though only the first episode was made and the team sadly broke apart at some point after that. But the fact that someone was still inspired enough by my stories to try and adapt them into an audio format still blows my mind!

I probably said this in the previous post but I feel the need to say it again: thank you. Thank you to everyone who read my stories here. To everyone who ever left a comment or simply favorited one of my stories. Thank you. I'm glad you found entertainment in the stories I wrote here.

I suppose the only thing I have left to cover is my thoughts on current MLP and Doctor Who. I did this in the previous milestone blog but there have been some new updates in the interim. I watched the new batch of Make Your Mark episodes on Netflix. And while I overall enjoyed them, I can't deny that there's some sort of spark missing from Gen 5 that was present in Gen 4. It could be just the long shadow that Gen 4 has cast. I have such a fond connection to that version of Equestria and its characters that this current one still feels more awkward and smaller by comparison. I think Gen 5 just needs more time to flesh itself out as well as create some more interesting side characters. I do love the main cast. Hitch and Zipp are my favorites. Opaline is a fairly interesting villain and I like the conflict that Misty is dealing with. Sparky is NO Spike, that's for certain. He feels mostly as a prop for the story and Hitch's character than someone interesting in his own right. And I'm still interested in learning the history of Gen 5 and what caused the magic to be sealed away in the first place. The comics have already begun diving into this, with one even bringing back Discord. But the comic's relationship with canon is shaky at best, lest we forget how they gave Sombra a full backstory and redemption arc before the show scrapped all of that in Season 9.

There's not too much else to note on my Doctor Who thoughts. The final episode of the Jodie-Chibnall era airs in two days and I have a morbid curiosity in how it will all end and transition into the second era of RTD. I am looking forward to the 60th Anniversary and what Ncuti Gatwa will be bringing to the role as the 14th Doctor. But the sour taste of the Timeless Child BS is still strongly attached to the series. And Doctor Who will have a perpetual shadow cast over it until the Timeless Child is officially cast away.

Anyways, I wish you all luck in your endeavors and to, hopefully, brighter futures. Keep on keeping on!

Happy anniversary, DP! My own milestone is this year too, specifically on December 30th.

An early congrats! It's crazy that we've been involved with this site for a decade. Though with varying degrees of interaction, of course.
