Royals-verse Update · 11:09pm Jan 17th, 2014
So Ein and I have had a few people asking about writing Royals-verse stuff. Here's the deal.
You can write stuff set in the Royals-verse without asking. (It'd be polite if you did, but you don't really gotta.) This means you're not officially approved, but you have complete freedom in terms of what you do with the characters. Wanna write the next Cupcakes or Rainbow Factory or (as if) Sacred Sonatina? You want this option.
See, if you want to write something canon to the Royals-verse, we'd appreciate if you talk with us about it. We're trying to keep the tone (relatively) consistent, and we've got plans for the main characters and a few side characters, but most of the other ponies aren't factoring heavily into our current plans.
We're going to release a Royals-verse bible at some point, outlining the major plot points of the stories we've released and the things that happened between the show and the events we refer to. It'll be available on request. pinkiesmile:
I approve of all of this.
But if you write the next Cupcakes set in our verse, I'd rather NOT know about it.
1728903 I also approve.
Wait, though, is there a Royalsverse group?
I'm curious; which characters are you two planning on using more in future times/already have stories planned out for them? I really love this 'verse and am debating writing something for it, especially from either the point of view of Spike, the waitress from Royals, or Scootaloo, but I'd like to know who's currently 'unavailable' if I wish to write a potentially-canon story.
This is an official verse?
Wow...
1730206
Well, we haven't registered it with the Official Verse Folks yet, but that's because I'm still working on the application.
1729243 short version: rarity, FR, DT and SB are us, which means we have plans for what happens to them and how thier lives turn out. That doesn't mean they can't pop up in other stories, but that does mean major life developments are largely kept in house. Basically everyone else is more or less fair game, assuming you're more or less in line with what we've referenced. (I.e. Flutter Mac has happened, ya'll!)
Stay tuned for an announcement.
1730206 when more than three people ask to write a story in your continuity, I think it qualifies? Maybe?
