Welcome the Unexpected fix-er-ups · 6:33pm Jan 2nd, 2014
Alright, as I stated here and there, I was going to be touching up my first story in preparation for its sequel. The main things I wanted to do first besides grammar issues was making Chapter 2 (and consequently half of 3 to help with flow) a bit better and more 'realistic'. They're finally up and running! As I'm writing this blog post, I'm going to be getting ready to head out shortly and will likely take care of the rest of the story with some very minor edits, but the biggest part of my project with this story is now ready. I'd love to hear what you think of the slight rewrites, especially if you'd seen what I had before, so please please please leave a comment and tell me what you think.
As far as why I did the major rewrite (though it doesn't change how the story went), it's to give a little more weight to an important subplot that the sequel is going to have. For a brief spoiler here, AJ, as you will see, is the one who gets Matt (the human character) to open up after the initial freak-out. Though this was in the original draft, this fact is also in the rewrite: her accent was the first thing he took strong note of. I won't say anything else at this point.
Now, hopefully the tagged story option below this text box actually does what I want it to do, which is to inform those who liked or favorited the story be informed of this. I honestly have no idea how it works as I've never used them before! Anyway, once the first chapter of the sequel is up and running, I do intend to put a short chapter up for WtU to let fans of the story know what's going on. Even though some may not agree with this and I did mention I wouldn't do it again after doing so with a different story (Sweat), this one's completion happened in August of 2012. I want to do the sequel especially right (may even look for an editor) and I have a feeling that it could be even better than the first. I'd go so far as to say that the premise is probably not one you see every day here on the site though I don't have an encyclopedic knowledge of every last story every published here.
Either way, I do hope it turns out well and that you enjoy it as well as the rewrites in the original. Again, let me know what you think! Thanks for reading!
K. Good luck.
