    More reviews!

Okay! Time for more words of wisdom! I haven't seen the past episode, but I'll do that at some point this week. I'll be brief here with the reviews as best I can remember too.

    Decent news

Okay, I'm finally finished with the final chapter of the third entry in the Sweat series. Now, I just have to get started with its side story. I can do that this weekend or something. However, I kinda want to publish it at the same time as the final chapter. I also have to catch up with the reviews. I can do a few of them tomorrow morning during some down time at work. Probably do the next

    Few more reviews

Alright, so! I was away for about 4 days and had been playing some catch-up. Went to Denver for some business, but my friend moved out to Loveland January last year, so I figured I'd take a few more days and hang out. Was a lot of fun! Saw a lot of gorgeous nature and some wild animals, including eating a bison burger that had zero fat on it whatsoever and kept me full for the entire day.

    Season 9 kicking off

Alright, a couple weeks behind, but that was typical in the past. I've been excessively...well, distracted by WoW and work and stuff, so I, Spy and its eventual sister story have been sitting there collecting dust. I'll be able to get some cranked out this Sunday after I get home from Daytona Beach after...ugh...hanging out with family. Fucking holidays. Kind of hard to believe that we're

Thing was about as wide as a standard McD's cheeseburger, but about an inch think. Was sooooooo good! Anyway, let's talk a bit about a few episodes.

First, Uprooted. So, the Young 6 decide to do something for the now-dead Tree of Harmony after they all have a weird dream about the Tree seemingly calling out to them. They all have their own ideas, except Yona's is the only one that makes sense, to work together to do something instead of bickering about their own ideas. Like others have said, it was very reminiscent of Castle Sweet Castle where the Re-M5 tried to decorate Twilight's new castle, but they all did their own thing, putting up shit THEY'D like. That's.....really about it, there wasn't much to this episode. The song was nice, and the Tree was still alive in spirit and helped the kids put together the new Crystal Tree House Playset. Pretty nice design, but I have a feeling we'll probably will see it only one more time in this final season. I dunno, just seems odd to me to introduce something so late that looks like it could be a go-to place for some story lines. I am glad they kind of shied away from the Map calling the girls to do something. Only so many ways you can have an episode revolving around that. Fairly average episode, didn't really wow me. The jokes were decent, but there weren't that many, at least not that I can remember, pretty good writing. Like I said, not much to talk about with this one. Final score: 6/10.

Sparkle's Seven. A wink and a nod to Ocean's Eleven. Okay, I'm intrigued, especially with the story being crafted by the voice actors! Apparently, Shining Armor has a crown when they were kids about who's the top sibling that year or whatever after some silly friendly competitions. The traps he sets up to prevent her from getting the crown that was sitting on Celly's throne were wild. But Luna's got another stick up her ass about Celly and how she was going to handle some administration or something (again, can't remember, Colorado is still at the forefront of my mind). Twilight's crew puts together a plan to get to the crown, but it fails spectacularly, but not without a lot of humor, especially by Rarity and RD. Rares knows you have to sometimes get all sexy to get something done. Poor RD not wanting to go along with it, but it WAS Zephyr Breeze, who's still just as much a fuck-up as he ever was. Eventually, they figure 'fuck it' and do what Twilight would have done in the first place. But, while they were all distracted after she was inevitably caught, Luna snuck the crown to Spike and he wins the contest. Okay, that's actually kinda sweet. I mean, how many times have we said Spike seems to be treated like a punching bag for no reason. But, he was there the entire time with Twilight when she was young, and I'm going to assume he was treated well. Why would he have stayed with her if he wasn't? And it took me a moment to realize this was the 200th episode of the series. And it was a....Spike episode? Kinda? Not really? I dunno, maybe it was more accurate to say it was an entire cast episode, which is fine and probably best. However, the fact that I had to think about it is a bit of a letdown. I was expecting something more grand for a 200th episode, something which is RARE as hell in a cartoon anymore. Anyway, the comedy was pretty solid, pacing and writing weren't bad. A bit of a fluff episode with not that much at stake. Still, was a little letdown that it wasn't as big as it could have been. Final score: 7/10.

The Point of No Return. So, Derpy delivers a package to Twilight from Celly. She found some stuff in her old library home in Canterlot, including *gasp* AN OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOK!!!!!! Ohhhhhh shit, that's unlike our Book Horse! However, going into (light) crisis mode over it is not. So, we take a trip back to Canterlot and see a few familiar sites like the first home we saw her at back at the very beginning of the series and that Indian looking restaurant where we bump into Moon Dancer again. Coolness, she's getting out and meeting more people, good on her! Anyway, Twilight wants to return the book to the old librarian, but she quit a long time ago. She eventually finds Dusty Pages at a retirement home living it up, which sounds like the exact opposite of real life. Turns out she was a perfectionist too and the overdue book broke her streak as well as Twilight's, but she eventually realized it's a waste of time to fuss about unachievable and unnecessary perfection. Frankly, that's a HELL of a good lesson that I don't think the show has touched on yet, so kudos on them. I'm a bit of a perfectionist myself, but I don't let it get out of hand. Shit happens in life you can't control and it throws a monkey wrench into your plans sometimes. No reason to get all bent out of shape over it, especially if it's a trivial thing. We saw a return of the meme faces, which Twilight seems to be a master of. Spike's bouncing off her the entire way and trying to be the sensible one was great as it usually is when he's in that role. Probably why more often than not he was never able to carry an episode as the main focus. The writers always turned into a complete dipshit when he's very clearly not. I had fun with this one. Pretty solid all-around. Even had a few new kinds of ponies like the big jock. At first, I thought Dusty Pages was going to be pissed at Twilight, but it was nice to see she wasn't at all bothered by the flub. Final score: 8/10.

One last episode to watch still. I'll go check out Common Ground tomorrow at some point. I've still got a lot of catching up of the videos I tend to watch on YouTube since I didn't want to burn through all the data while I was in Colorado, not to mention that I was busy running around seeing the sights all day long for 4 straight days. Also reminds me that I need to get back to I Spy, which I had started to pound out before I left. I'll get to it, I promise. Till next time.
