Villains - Update #7 · 2:43am Dec 31st, 2013
Whoops ... has it really been over a month since I said a word on this site? Sorry about that, heh heh ...
Well, anyway, I'm still chugging along. Never as fast as I'd like (as it's hard to keep up with the strict 1667 words per day I did back in NaPoWrMo), but coming just the same. I figure I'll need a new editor soon so I can get this story out (finally), and get it finished once and for all.
So, yes, I haven't stopped writing Villains (for the .5 of you who care).
I'm almost finished the first draft for chapter twelve (out of nineteen), and as for editing ... yeah, I'll admit I'm behind there. Still haven't finished chapter 5. I guess editing is the more anxiety-inducing of the two, even though I love to write. It's one thing to write the crap, but to have to go over it with a critical eye? It all looks like garbage to me! What do you mean, improve it? It's an abomination.
... I'll get over it and just revise the damn thing, I promise. I'm not giving up ... I just get easily discouraged b/c I want to be better at this so badly.
Anyway, enough of my complaining, I've got to get back to writing mediocre nonsense!
P.S. Just so you know, I think I'm going to try my hand at EQD's Writer's Training Ground, at least for a little while as I finish writing the first drafts for Villains. I'd like to put some stuff out there, get some constructive criticism and hopefully a little encouragement to keep at it. I'll say again that I'm not halting the (small) progress on Villains or putting it on hiatus, or anything silly like that. These are just to have something to put out.
Happy reading,
Nutters
Well, now that you reminded me, I care, though I do confess that by this time I had put the story out of my mind. So it was unexpected good news.
1666350 Yeah, at this point, I had to expect anybody who used to be interested forgot about it. That's why I wanted to finish writing it all before I posted anymore, so people wouldn't have to wait insane amounts of time for my crap
Thanks for the comment, though!
I do the Self Editing thing to, honestly. It is somewhat hard, and sometimes I'll scrap an entire chapter and re-write it from scratch. I'm finding, however, that editing is an incremental thing. If I focus on just the bit that I'm working on and the bit right after and before it (to get the flow right) it feels much more manageable.
