Somewhere in the USA. Probably older than you. And something about MLP:FIM makes me want to write stories. Unfortunately, being gainfully employed cuts into my writing time.

  • EScootaloo's Family
In all the time they’ve been together, the Cutie Mark Crusaders have never seen Scootaloo’s home or family. Why? The speculation is as wild as their crusade ideas! But today, the truth comes out, as they finally meet Scootaloo’s family.

    Retrospective Review: Strong Seconds

Not an episode review this time.

PresentPerfect writes about the "Applejack Problem", that a character with everything figured out becomes too boring. Her cutie mark is literally deciding she wants to stay home.

Retrospective Review: Putting Your Hoof Down and It's About Time

    S2E19 Putting Your Hoof Down

Watching this episode as part of the whole series is jarring. You have episode after episode of ponies being kind and friendly, then a whole bunch of rude ponies all at once.

I hate Angel Bunny in this episode. I want to turn him into hasenpfeffer.

I'd like to know why there just happens to be a hedge maze somewhere near Ponyville.

Retrospective Review: Hearts and Hooves Day and A Friend in Deed

    S2E17 Hearts and Hooves Day

The writers have chosen, once again, to feature a holiday or celebration in this episode. Arguably, this is the seventh time (Summer Sun Celebration, Winter Wrap Up, Running of the Leaves, Grand Galloping Gala, Nightmare Night, Hearth's Warming, Hearts and Hooves Day), and the third time directly referencing a major American holiday.

Retrospective Review: Baby Cakes and The Last Roundup

    S2E13 Baby Cakes

So this was an episode that came completely out of the blue. There was no indication of Cup Cake being pregnant, let alone with twins. I'm assuming there was a toy involved.

"That makes sense, right?" Sure, but if you're a pegasus stallion with a beige coat or a unicorn stallion with a yellow coat, I wouldn't recommend dining at Sugarcube Corner.

Scootaloo has a home! · 7:12pm Dec 14th, 2013

It looks like a small home, and it's on the ground.

The only thing missing from the most recent episode is a glimpse of a horde of little brothers. :scootangel:

I was amused by the way DHX managed to show us Scoot's home without showing any of her family.

Given her personality, you'd think she'd have a horde of older brothers.

Or it could be an orphanage room...ya never know:rainbowwild:

True, still no proof that she isn't an orphan but I think it shows that her home life isn't the hellhole that the fandom at times wants to embrace.

1606222 Why does everyone want her to be an orphan:ajbemused:

1606252
Yeah they definitely jossed "homeless Scootaloo". If she's an orphan, she either lives in a nice orphanage or foster home.

1606274
Indeed, no Dickensian nightmare

1606401
No loss as far as I'm concerned.

Aside from not being in the spirit of the show, anyone who really believes Scootaloo could hide something like that for a year has never lived in a small town.

1606411
Or had a teacher like Cheerilee... or be in a school system at all. Scoot's address would be in her file, Cheerilee would know

1606445
Exactly. If even if Scoots could fake the paperwork somehow, Cheerilee pays attention to her students. She'd know something was up.

1606482
Hell her friends would see something is up

Maybe a foster home..? Her room kind of looks..plain? There's not much going on...In AB and SB's room, we see lots of things around. It just seems off to me her room doesn't fit Scootaloo. Seriously, she's bland in terms of room.

Plus, there are a lack of pitcures that show family. Even her friends were more decorative. Maybe that's just me.

1606519
Which was always the fly in that particular ointment. Even if she could hide in a small town like Ponyville, even if she could fool Cheerilee, how could she keep it a secret from her friends? Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle aren't dumb; they'd notice if Scootaloo was always dirty, hungry, and otherwise neglected.

1606530
So? I don't have pictures of my family in my room, and my room isn't all that well decorated

1606762
Also AJ would notice apples being missing if Scoots was in the clubhouse

1606779 Maybe I was thinking of perhaps.....that she would have tons more due to her..uh..obsession?

1606530
Sure it could be. But the "orphan Scootaloo" meme was never just about her parents being dead. After all Apple Bloom is already (unofficially) that kind of orphan. Folks wantred Scoots to be homeless and now she's not.

1606795
So you want her to act like the stereotypical fangirl?

1606174
She does kinda of give off that vibe, doesn't she?

1606819 No way, it just never seemed to fit her crazed obsession shown even in Sleepless in Ponyville. You would figure she'd have slightly more than just a single poster of Rainbow Dash

A home with no parents. So totally inherited her parents fortune when they died. She's pretty efficient and resourceful. Clearly such a small house can only house one filly.

Also, shame on Rainbow Dash not signing that poster. :rainbowwild:

1606131

Well they can't reveal everything on one go...:ajbemused:

1607277
Oh I know. If you write for a long running series it's best to specify as little as you can get away with - that way you don't close off story options. I just found it amusing the way they skated around Scoot's family.

1608020 One thing I noticed is that Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom weren't acting shocked in any way to be at Scootaloo's house, so I'd take that to mean they have been there before, off camera.

1608140
Agreed. It was much the same when we saw Sweetie's house last season.

Which makes sense, these characters have lives even when the camera isn't watching.

I never believed Scootaloo was homeless. I mean that's just silly.

That was totally the Ponyville orphanage.

Yeah, Scootaloo having a home was a big revelation for canon. But something else in the episode surprised me just as much: the song “Hearts Strong as Horses”. There are horses in Equestria?! Why have we never seen one? Are they intelligent? Are they only mythical?

1616802 I think the common belief is the Saddle Arabians are horses.

1616839
Oh. Looking at the Saddle Arabians again, they do look like horses. Never mind. :twilightsheepish:
