Status update and a call for help. · 11:56pm Dec 8th, 2013

The next chapter of There Goes the Neighborhood is coming along smoothly, which is to be expected since I've been looking forward to this one for a while. With the second act beginning, all the conflicts get turned up to 11. I suspect this one will follow the trend of ever-increasing chapter sizes, but don't take that as a promise.

But there's a small problem. As the previously minor OCs become more relevant, I'm finding that they really do need names. And, alas, I suck at names. Therefore, I'm asking you guys for help. Toss me some names I can use for ponies from Canterlot, both unicorn and earth pony.

In other news, I'm also considering which one-shot idea to work on between chapters of TGTN. Let me know which of these sound interesting:

-A cute story about Fluttershy and fleas.
-A slice of life tale about a professional daredevil attempting the most dangerous stunt of his career in Ponyville. Inspired by (but not based on) a couple episodes of American Daredevils I caught on tv recently.
-A comedy(?) about Flash Sentry getting fired for his numerous breaches of protocol in Equestria Girls.
-An excerpt from the memoirs of Mad Science. Or maybe it would wind up being the first chapter of his autobiography. I don't know yet. Either way, a glimpse into the head of a mad scientist is fun for me.
-I could always write more of Roll For Initiative, but that's likely to happen anyway.

While I'm a little reluctant to do so before TGTN is finished, I could also start on another multi-chapter project. I have a couple of them ready to begin, but the one that's burning a hole in my brain is a Haruhi Suzumiya crossover, written in the style of the novels, in which Haruhi becomes a fan of MLP after the Japanese-dubbed version starts airing. She subconsciously creates a real version of the MLP world where her bizarre headcanon runs rampant and integrates herself into it, forcing Kyon and company to follow her in and try to find her and bring her back to reality before the the human world ceases to exist.

Let me know what you think of these ideas. I intend to write them all eventually, but your feedback will help determine the priorities. And again, please toss out a few names for me to consider.

Names huh. How about: Upturned Nose, Tender Garden (He tends to gardens!), Noble Vestige, High Court, Morning Glory, Spell Rose, and Arm Coat. You could also try to come up with something to do with boutineers.

The Daredevil story sounds interesting but I have a weakness for anything to do with SCIENCE!

Thanks. None of those are quite right for the characters I'm working with, but they did give me a couple good ideas, so you were a big help.

One vote for science recorded. Too bad no one else seems to have anything to say on the matter.

If we can get a little more details about the supporting characters, I'll see what I can come up with.

I appreciate it, but I've already sorted them out. Every character that currently needs a name now has one.

1588709
Don't give me that. It's good news, dammit!

By the way, any thoughts on those ideas I mentioned?

It's a tough call: mad scientist stuff is always good for laughs, but a little Flash Sentry abuse should be a real crowd-pleaser.

1588722 I actually don't mind the poor guy.

1588775
I mostly just ignore him. But a lot of the fandom has a good hate-on for him.

I don't even hate the character, myself, but even if I think he's perfectly salvageable, there's still the little problem that he (the pony version) really did act like a moron in that movie.
