Don't worry, I'm not dead (yet) · 11:13am Dec 1st, 2013
Hey everyone!
It's been a while. To answer all the zero questions I got about where I've been and why I'm not uploading anything: yeah, uh... I'm still trying to deal with the whole fear disorder thing. Coupled with stress from other sources, it's been a bit difficult. On top of that, it's becoming wintery again, which means my mood generally turns a lot more somber. Seasonal affective disorder, or something. We call it winter depression. It's generally making me either really tired or really cranky. I've already spent a sizeable amount of time fuming in annoyance about the way people behave at times.
I've been attempting to write stuff, and I really want to deliver something fun to you guys, but I simply can't get in the right state of mind to write. It's incredibly frustrating. It's doubly frustrating because I actually have a lot of free time right now. Not many hours of school this quarter of the year. Not being able to use that time in the way I want is.... eurgh.
On a slightly more positive note, I've started being a dungeon master for a Dungeons & Dragons group, which is a lot of fun. It's not without its hiccups, but this first module is going pretty well. The group is a little bit small (me and three players), so I've made a character to help out a little. Seeing as said character won't be useful in roleplaying all that much, seeing as I know everything, I made said character into a joke character. He's Hank "the Tank" von Dobbel III, and his character portrait is literally Beauty and the Beast's Gaston with his hair coloured a golden blonde (so, yellow). Improvising the humourous aspects of the story is definitely my strongest suit, but I'm writing my own D&D story now, which will span about seven campaigns, and feature a dangerous cult, and the god-like beings of my own design that they worship. Once I actually get to running those campaigns, I may even chronicle some of the more interesting bits here.
Oh, and how about those new pony episodes? So far, I'm greatly enjoying season four! The opening episodes were pretty good and are promising an interesting story arc for the season, and yesterday's episode was simply awesome. The writing was absolutely superb, creative, and really funny. It might not be the most original idea, but the spin taken on it was a breath of fresh air. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the season. Especially Pinkie Pie, but I might be a little biased in her favour. And then there's also the silent hoping changelings will make another appearance, eh?
In another bit of good news, some Dutch guys are looking at organising a brony convention in Amsterdam. Since that's only... what, 45 to 60 minutes from where I live, I'll be attending said con! That is, if it's actually going to come. Right now, they're doing a bit of marketing research. If you're interested, and want to have a bit of input, you can find their survey here: http://marketanalysis.hwcon.nl
Who knows, I might even be able to do a panel there! I'd certainly love to do so, and tell people about the wonders of writing horse words. I've already dropped the organisers a message that I'd be interested, at least. For those of you who want to come, but need some time to think, don't worry. It's slated to take place somewhere in January-February 2015.
Anyway, that's about everything for now. I'll do my best to get some fic material out for you guys to read soon! Sorry it's been taking so long. I really thought I'd be getting more questions as to where I'd gone though. Not that I'm complaining! You guys are the best. Reading your wonderful comments really makes my day better, which sure comes in handy!
Glad to hear that you're still among the breathing! I find hot chocolate helps on particularly dreary winter days.
Personally, I actually noticed you haven't posted anything in a while, but I though you just needed time. And I don't know, I've come to loath people asking for new content, as if they have any right to do so, as if authors are in debt to them. Sadly, I kinda feel like doing that if I ask what's going on just because you don't post anything.
...
Dammit... Excuse me, I need to make a phone call...
...
...Hm...? I mean, uh, yeah! Glad to see you're still alive and... heh... without... bullets in your... brain...
Holy lord you're still alive o_o
Nobody tanks like Hank!
...Von Dobbel III.
What classes are in your group anyway?
I laughed out loud, quite literally, and am pleased to hear that you are having a blast.
The reason I don't ask when the next update/story/chapter is coming is because I know how annoying it is for the people that get asked. (Seriously, when did some commenters lose so much imagination that they're content with misspelling the word "more"?)
Anyway, you have my empathy. Take as much time as you need and don't worry about it.
Good to hear thst you are still amongst the living!
If whatever "winter depression" you have is actually SAD, you may benifit from warming up your main room by a couple degrees as well as making sure you have plenty of lighting. If you make the room where you spend the most time "bright and warm like summer", I find it really helps get rid of the blues.
Hope this helps!

That aside D&D sounds like a ton of fun, though distances kill pretty much everything.
