Miles' Top 10 Instrumental Final Boss Themes: #3 · 5:00pm Nov 8th, 2013
3. The Warthog Run (Halo 3)
Halo's not much in the way of final bosses. To most, the "fight" with 343 Guilty Spark was laughable. But what came afterwards was epic as hell. A fantastic way to end the trilogy.
I suppose an exploding planet space station barely skirts in as a "boss".
Barely.
1491931 My guidelines for this list:
- One per franchise.
- Must be the final battle or area of gameplay before the credits/final cutscene.
- Orchestral. No lyrical songs.
Having only spectated and never actually played the Halo series myself, this is actually a really neat remix of the main theme - the music has always been one of my favorite aspects of the games.
Edit: 1491963 This. you beat me to it.
Eh, brings back good, old memories,
why did I sell Halo 3 and Wars?
Wars was the best damn game in the franchise.
I could listen to this one for days, it's just so awesome!
Oh, man. The last level of Halo 3. I played that run a hundred times, all difficulties.. We started finding glitched out areas where the world didn't collapse, stuff that wasn't supposed to exist, we put so much time into it...
Freakin' awesome. Halo is the greatest :D
Yeah, the Halo series is good for awesome music. Marty O'Donnell's cool that way. In fact, something neat about Halo 2, as much as it jumped around and changed environments, and however little people liked the Arbiter for some reason, you can say this; every single one of those level pairs had absolutely badass moments that stand out above the rest.
Space Station? Fighting Sangheili Rangers in low grav.
Old/New Mombasa? One word. TANK.
The Heretic Gas Refinery? Fighting Flood and Heretics while the station FALLS OUT OF THE SKY. Bonus points for having awesome dogfights before, and during, said fall. (Wish there was a version of the music from that bit without the vocalization.)
And so on. Man that was a good game.
Sorry. Probably took up a bit of space here.
This is one of my favorite moments in gaming. The way it ties everything together is just flawless.
The haunting melodies of the theme song.
The way that it almost feels like you're back on the Pillar of Autumn.
The way you fight aliens and robots as you plummet to the planet's surface.
Just hearing this song again gives me goosebumps.
