'Cutie Mark Crusaders Dream Warriors' Notes · 2:19pm Oct 23rd, 2013
-I asked Swirling Line to use the poster for Elm Street 3 as the basis of the cover art. As usual, she freakin' nailed it.
-The gestation of this story was a very, very long time. I was mopping the floor last November and jamming out to some Dokken when the idea popped into my head. I decided to hold off writing it until this Halloween season.
-I struggled for a long time trying to find some plot device that would add a bit of an inferiority complex to Scootaloo that would carry on into her sequel. The lack of cutie mark seems obvious in hind-sight.
-I told you all Feather Duster wasn't quite dead yet.
-Ah, the colt-friends. Integral to any slasher piece is the love interests. ScootaPip and SweetieMash were easy, but I had the hardest time deciding on Applebloom's paramour. Then I remembered Rumble was a pegasus.
-Ha. Zelda reference.
-Yes, Luna cannot astral project while in the late stages of pregnancy. This is called a 'plot device.'
-I introduced the 'lucid dreaming' concept in 'Sweet Dreams.' Now we know of five ponies who have this rare and unique ability; the CMC, Caramel, and Pinkie Pie.
-Much like my favorite bits I've written, I have no bloody idea where the girl-talk between AB and Sweetie Belle came from. What was supposed to be an off-hand remark became a fluid and (to me) very entertaining conversation.
-Sweetie Belle's a little heart-breaker, huh? Just like her Mom. Button better watch out.
-And yes, Sweetie Belle dated Twist briefly. Gotta shop around to see what you like.
-The psychological attack was easily my favorite bit to write. It was fun to make Feather Duster into even MORE of an asshole.
-But man, did it suck having to write that Rarity/Spike dialogue. Poor Sweetie. That 'mommy' broke my heart when I wrote it.
-Behold, Moon Shadow. "the sons of Armor shall go to war..."
-Scootaloo's original line was "You need to dream bigger" and she dreamed up a giant Rainbow Dash. I like this one better.
-Two. Two alicorns. Ah-ah-ah. But seriously, I always loved the idea of the CMC uniting as an alicorn to defeat Feather Duster. They became the embodiment of friendship to finish him once and for all.
-The final blow always belonged to Applebloom. She needed the closure.
-Oh hai Belial! (King of Lies is up next)
-Random-ass Trixie cameo? Not quite. I needed to establish her in the palace for stories still to come.
-Really hoping that last bit about Scootaloo is the cathartic laugh I was hoping it would be.
I have to read this when I get a chance.
