Journal Entry # 2 · 3:13am Oct 15th, 2013
It's been a long time since I last updated, so I thought it was about time to make another journal entry and let you all know what's up. I also think that make more journal entries would be a good way for me to, on a more personal level, just drop in to see what condition my condition is in.
I'm back in college now, and living in my fraternity's house (yes, I'm in a frat), and I'm suddenly finding myself with very little time to work on the second book in The Cycle of Eternal Return. On top of all my regular course work, I'm also working on a script and producing a radio show for my college radio (which is a huge commitment). I keep telling my self I'll find sometime to work on my book, and I did when I didn't get it done by the end of the summer, but I haven't been able consistently.
So for the moment, production on "Planet Hell" is suspended until I have the time to finish it, which I will after I finish this term, sometime mid November. I don't want to, and I actually feel a tad bit ill about the idea of putting this project on the backburner for a little while, but on the plus side, I can focus on my academics, radio show, and fraternity related obligations. I can also meditate on how to wrap up the ending (I'm 15 of 18 chapters done! Then I can edit it! And then you can read it!) and what I need to tidy up before handing it to my editors.
It's happening. This book will get finished. In all honesty, I loved writing Awakening, but I really haven't enjoyed the process of "Planet Hell" and was almost a little too eager to be done with it, but now that it's out of my life, I really miss tinkering with the dialogue and figuring out what happens next, so I will return to make sure I finish what I've started. It's just going to be a little while.
I'm also currently waiting to hear back from Hobbes-Maxwell, the artist I'm trying to get to do the cover. He made this:
I know there are other artists out there, but this guy's style is sweet and and dark and I think fits very well with the overall feel of the piece. I've been trying to get him to take my commission for about a year now; CSIMadMax was actually my second choice for Awakening's artist.
More disconcerting is the infrequent contact I've been having with my editing teaming from Awakening. Part of that's my bad for just not taking the time to stay more on top of my email and in touch, but that can't be all of it and I can't help but worry, as the little I do hear from them doesn't bode particularly well.
I feel like this entry is a little bit of a downer, but even though I know I'm making this choice to put aside my fanfic out of a perceived sense of necessity, it still makes me feel a bit sick inside.
Anyway, the next time you hear from me I'll have some exciting news for you all (probably because I'll have a first draft done, but if not, I'll find something else uplifting to share).

PS: Unfortunately, due to school work and a recent experience with a writer of a Shining Armor / Cadance fic that left a lingering bitter taste in my mouth, I'm not going to be able to help much in the way of editing for a while. At least, not until this term is completed.
PPS: "Planet Hell" is going to be so epic.

Well glad your still planning to keep things going, this story was to great to NOT have the awesome set up pay off. take care of real life first, but we'll be looking forward to your next story when you get to it.
Take as long as you need. Those things have to take priority, and I would rather wait for a great story than not get one, or get one of lesser quality because it was rushed. In the mean time, I will be waiting patiently for it.
I should get of my ass and finish awakening really or before I know it the next story is up, well, I will sit while reading but you get the point. Anyhow, what the others said, take all the time you need, school is a bit more important than pony fanfics after all.
We won't accept fanart as an uplifting share.It's just sane to give school the first place. As we did to now, we'll be waiting. And waiting. Like for a messiahs, announced by a prophet centuries ago.
